The dash top compartment option is nice. But I would
add a USB port and a Aug input there.

The ones inside the center area between the front seats aren't enough?

They are not convenient. If in the dash compartment i could
use it exclusively for my phone and be able to hide all the
codes and wires. Wouldnt' have to have cords
    dangling all over.

I use the dash compartment for my Garmin GPS. I use a weighted base from Garmin so it sets nicely on top of the compartment's lid. I wouldn't want my iPhone up there where I would have to lean forward to operate it. I can operate the Garmin just fine with verbal commands.

Lol I wouldn't use a phone at all while I am driving, unless it is integrated into the vehicle or accepts voice tags. We have a saying here that says "So if you are driving while on the phone, get off the road". It is illegal to drive with the phone in your hand.

Hands free operation (e.g., via Bluetooth) ok?

I agree and think there should be a USB in the front top compartment. This would be the place for the phone (BT connected). It would also have best reception up there as well.
