How big is the orange coil on SPX charger?

How big around is the orange coil on the SPX charger?

Furthermore, how big is the connectors?

I ask as I'd like to put my station inside, with a door to pass through to the outside, and use 3 or 4" PVC to line the hole through my concrete block. That way I could retract the charger handle and lock it up.

WIll this fit thru a 3 or 4 " PVC hole?

I measure the O.D. of the coil at about 2-1/2 inches. As for the dimensions of the J-1772 plug, I suggest you refer to the standard. Dr. Google can no doubt find it for you.

I know the plug has a standard, but from the pics, the handle seems to vary. Some have a bigger angle than others. I did google, and based on what I found it varies somewhat. If the connector was straight, I'd be good to go.

But I know I can at least retract the cord! Worst I could have a box mounted to conceal the plug.

The plug connector on the end is just a little bit bigger than 3 inches, so if you need to be able to pass it through a pipe often, you better figure a 4" one.

I was concerned about the Angle of the handle to the plug, needing more room, like the 4" diameter you mention. As it's got to pass thru 8" concrete block. Hopefully, it's fairly straight like the one that came with the Volt.

You want 4 inch pvc. The handle needs at least 3.75 inch diameter. The coiled wire only needs 3 inch diameter. I just tested my SPX Voltec 240v handle and coil using a 4 inch pvc schedule 40 pipe and it would work fine. I can post pics later if needed.

That's great! I'm ordering the SPX charger today sometime, if work isn't too busy. My car did charge fine last night, but I gotta use the 110 charger at work for now, so I'll be taking it back and forth for a while.

I was surprised how much heavier the cord weighs with the 240v unit, Red Volt. The unit weighs 40 lbs. and I think 38 of that is the cord! And they are black now, not orange. For those mounting this in a garage, I recommend mounting it at the 36" to bottom min height. That way the coiled cord can more easily rest in the floor and you can step over it without feeling you are doing track and field hurdles. Mine is mounted on the wall by the drivers side of the car close to the Volt's charge port.
