Default Questions re Bluetooth/iPhone and voice commands/recognition

Once paired, can the iPhone be answered handsfree via Volt or does iPhone have to be accessible?

I.e. Can the iPhone stay in my shirt pocket or do I need to be able to touch the iPhone to answer calls?

Would be nice to place calls via Voice recognition too. Possible?

BTW, thanks all for your replies in my other thread. Hit it right on the head, hardest will be to pick color

once paired: A little square bluetooth symbol will show up at the right edge of the display screen, usually within 15-30 seconds of starting the car.

1: Hit the phone call button on the steering wheel.
2: After the first beep, say "Handsfree".
    3. After the next beep, say "Bluetooth".
4: After the next beep, this one takes a little longer because the car accesses your phone and then comes the beep, say "Voice".
    5. after the next beep, you can use any voice commands your particular phone supports.

You do not need to touch the phone.

Also, Just hitting the Phone button on the steering wheel will answer any incoming call on a paired bluetooth phone.

Yep, there have been quite a few complaints about having to go through so many steps, but at least it works well.

My biggest problem was memorizing the correct order of the voice commands, and also waiting patiently for the actual beep sound to finish before giving the next command.

The Volt also has a built-in voice phonebook, that you can store up to 30 numbers and name tags in (use "store" command and follow prompts). This cuts down the number of steps considerably for your most frequently used numbers. Then you can just hit the phone button and after the beep say "call <name tag>".

You can use this for your most frequent numbers. For the more rare ones you can use the "bluetooth" + "voice" method to pass through and use the phone's voice recognition. (I don't think "handsfree" is necessary on the 2012.)

Expanding on Stephent's reply.. when you use the in-car voice book it will tell you what is being use, e.g "Calling using tboult's iphone". If it starts to use your onstar min (e.g. because the bluetooth did not connect or you left the phone on your office desk), it you can hit the onstar button to cancel and go back into the office to collect your forgotten phone.

My phone is usually in my holster on some days I have bluetooth off and the prompt can also remind me to enable blue tooth.

If I dial on the phone or come to the car on a call, I can also select to use the vehicle for the call (via the button that usually just is headset/speaker).

I have a 2012... its just "Bluetooth", then "Voice", then it says, "OK, accessing your phone", then you are at your phone's bluetooth voice dialing menu...
