This appears to be a theme among dealers who order from allocation. My dealer also takes orders at MSRP, but then if an order falls through, the dealer adds a $2,000 "market adjustment" to the Volt.

Hey Folks! Remember to place and update your location and status on the Volt Google Map located here: ...
I feel very fortunate. Calldrin, who's Volt is headed to Northern California, has VIN 752. My VIN 952 left on the same truck as his.
I'm still probably looking at 2-3 weeks to get to SoCal.
Hey calldrin, it looks like your Volt and mine are sharing the same truck. Mine left at the same time. I assume you were waiting for my Volt to get out to area 51 to join yours. We will no doubt be...
Stilgar,
Yes, the information regarding Cassens was sitting there on the Chevyconnects site. This does bring up a question as to how the cars are selected to be transferred to the New Boston rail...
Chevrolet has yet to update my Order Tracking, but Cassens (and bless you Chevyconnects), did update and my Volt has left the building and is waiting for a railcar at New Boston. Volt #952 is on its...
Your are correct as to Wallace E. Tyner. However, his boss appears more willing to listen to reason. and this may be a little fun replying to Mr. Tyner with a copy to his boss about his apparent...
Researchers at Purdue University claim that because electric bills are tiered in California, Volt owners will pay more to operate their vehicles than in practically any other place in the nation. ...
I read (somewhere) that it uses considerably less electricity to cool the Volt than to heat it. Something about heating air that takes more energy than cooling air electrically. Does that make sense?
No doubt, the Volt will be rented out as a specialty car, and priced accordingly. Sitting around for a few hours, and the cost of charging will be included in the rental fee.
The box asks, "As specified on DMV records, the motive power is:"
What do they mean "as specified on DMV records?"
How do you get out of the car, man??
If you want to hear an unbiased discussion of the Volt and the Leaf, you should take a look at the discussion (it's at the beginning of the video) between the editor of Car & Driver and High Gear...
Don't you have to get on the ground and look to find the tailpipe? I've never seen it in a photo. (I don't have my Volt yet, so I can't go out and look at it.)
I guess we still have to see who gets off the plant property first and is shipped. (4200) I read right above about SharkVolt's Volt that stayed at 4B00 for two weeks before leaving the plant property...
Thanks, Leela, for clearing that up. Not having the Volt yet, it looks like many of us were speculating about the windshield issue.
It is interesting. I think it means that your Volt has been transferred in shipment. Or, it could mean your car has been waiting to load all this time. Maybe ChevyConnect can give a better...
Yeh, rub it in, California is definitely the longest trip. I can't seem to find the shipping FAQ. It's mentioned somewhere in this thread, but the thread is impossible to search. (At least I can't...
Stilgar,
Me too! My order was updated to 4800. I'll have to see what my VIN is.
I hear it is about 3 weeks to get to California.
12/06/2010 - (2000) Order Accepted by GM Dealer used...
I think Chevy is referring to the rear mat? Or the rubber mats?
