I hit 47 miles of estimated and 51 miles of actual range a couple of weeks ago. Of course my 16 month old 2012 can now only get 9.7kWh from the battery so comparing it to a new 2013 Volt with...
Excellent! :)
Don't forget that 6.6kW charger with the larger battery so that it can be charged in a "more reasonable" time.
Congrats to Tesla Motors -- well done!
The nay-sayers will always find something to gripe about. Next on their list are the tax and ZEV credits that allegedly benefit Tesla.
Never quite used Recargo, but I am addicted to PlugShare. GM should consider getting the app in the Volt's indash nav. (retroactively would be nice... stop laughing! not kidding!)
It needs to stop conveying the "future" and needs to start conveying the here and now. It needs to tell people that they too can realistically and easily drive one and it is fun and practical to do...
Wonder if this is intended to help clear the 2013 inventory. Published last week on YouTube, May 15, and I have not seen it on TV yet, just the montage for the all new Chevy models and the intro to...
And I am a creature of the Beltway, the Parkway, the Beltline, the Turnpike and all other ways, lines, and pikes in between. The Volt is a long-distance highway machine that lets me travel to see...
As far as I remember the operations manual says not to use fuel additives. The Volt will run a Fuel Maintenance Mode cycle to burn the year old fuel.
The highest AER estimate displayed on my 2012 Volt has been 47 miles. My record set last week was 51 electric miles driven on a single charge. Notice that the battery does not seem to offer more...
Get another estimate or two and then decide. Also if you go with the insurance they may recommend/have a place that you could consider as well.
Good luck!
Sorry for the headache. Unfortunately I can relate -- my Volt has been hit twice now. Call your insurance company and file a claim. The bumper may be hiding additional damage behind it. The shop...
The problem is not spending $500, or $1,000, or $5,000 on a L2 charger. The problem for those of us who live in a multi-dwelling buildings is that the only power source we have available is 120V. I...
I do not buy the premise that EVs, and especially EREVs and PHEVs require a different platform from ICE powered cars in a world where automakers are designing universal platforms for the largest...
I think one problem with comparing the cost to purchase vs. the cost to operate is that one can to some extend modulate and reduce the cost to operate (i.e. by not operating when money is tight). ...
Yeah, get a 2012 model from Europe and bring it in so that you get to have a freakin' Hold mode. Oh, but you'll lose the OnStar services.
Bummer.
According to this British English Volt site when the hood (the bonnet) is open and the engine runs non-stop it does not charge (or discharge) the battery:

Tesla relies on social media and a fervent following to market their car. Also the Tyson's Corner Center Tesla "Store" opened and there was a constant stream of curious people on Saturday.

Many folks at GM were happy and bragged about conquest sales, or people who bought a Volt as their first Chevy/GM car or traded in another brand for it. The argument that GM does not offer retrofit...
When properly used Hold mode improves both the fuel economy of the generator and the electric efficiency of the electric motors. It can also help with heating the cabin by using the wasted heat at...
Ah yes, our brothers the Russians were and probably still are good at diversion tactics. Pres. Reagan did pretty much the same with SDI and won the Cold War.
Reality doesn't matter, perception is...
