The Volt is a hybrid. Above 60mph the transmission will be coupled with the generator to become more efficient at higher speeds. Although, I think this may only happen in CS mode.

Putting more battery in the Volt is wasteful, to get 100 miles they would have to double or triple the size of the pack. GM made a good call to put a battery in that covers most daily trips.

Any good custom shop should be able to install the clear bra. I've seen a lot of Ferrari, and Corvettes with this installed and if done right the final result is very nice.
