In my case the Volt is the spiritual successor to a '97 BMW 328i that I sold because I wasn't driving it. We're sending my wife's '02 Chevy Venture to Cincinnati for my son to drive and she's adopted the Prius.
There hasn't been much talk about the transmission oil so far. While there are clutches in the mix, the majority of the driving that these cars see is pure EV which is very simple use.
I have a 40 mile round trip commute and am seeing 12+ miles battery range remaining at the end of each day.
This is a genuinely fun car to drive and I'm enjoying it.
Good luck with your shopping. I have to believe that there will be many coming off lease soon. What's more, there are new, unsold 2012's at some dealers that you might be able to get a deal on. If you pay the IRS at least $7,500 a year in taxes you could get a tax credit of that much on one that hasn't been titled.
