So hence Barloworld same service and GWS - avoid at all costs their spares department - insanely useless even if the spares manager is a nice guy the people working for him eeeek - 6 Months warranty trim item on delivery vs me from US 2 weeks, so I have a spare!

Nice to show case your Volt at Swinburne - used to learn there.
Not sure I'd want too many people near mine, getting tired of the odd freak out, thankfully most people ignore mine or don't know what it is, so that is just fine by me :-)

    Hi Malcom,

Charger is a no brainer just make sure there is enough amp rating on the circuit breaker and the correct size wiring and you go though only x1 ground earth leakage circuit breaker.
Earthing was the worst problem for me (Re did the house with underground power and the new earth rod is crap) I now have two earth rods but once this summer the Volt chucked a clicky fit - so poured 70L of water on ground spike = Volt real happy to charge.

Wheels I got from Barloworld Glen Waverly , talk to the spare part manager they were the mother dealership for FTG where I have had the ultimate amazing great spare parts service for my Commodore(PS stay away from Sales and especially service advisors there) but they don't do VOLT at FTG - no spares database access.

BTW, I'm absolutely stunned by how wonderful the Volt is. I recently spent a day displaying mine at the recent ATA EV Expo at Swinburne Uni, and enjoyed answering 1000s of questions. Many people knew the Volt well but were originally not able to act owing to pricing. They were not aware of where current dealer pricing is for new and year old demos. First question always was price, second range on battery. That I had recently driven from Warrnambool to Seaford was a surprise to many, and with great petrol fuel consumption as well (better than my Honda Jazz on the Hwy)

Thanks Martin. I took the plunge tonight on importing a Clipper Creek. Now I have to find an electrician who understands the challenge and will work with me.

Given that there has now been about 100 + sales in addition to dealer demos, it would be interesting to know where they are and whether there is any concentrations in Melbourne warranting a concentrated support model from Holden (and particular dealers)

The Nav system is really intriguing, both SW version and database version. Given its all different from the US, surely its a common system with another vehicle that would make it well supported. I've run across a few Holden engineers re the Volt, so perhaps I should lean on them for their advice.

Thanks for the advice re Michelin tyres. Where did you get your extra wheels from?

    Hi Malcom,

Had this week off and wanted to sort out my poor heating ....
but guess what.. My Tech John at GWS had been unwell and not at work for 3 weeks.
So I'm going to leave it for a while and see....

    Continues ...

Tyres you have to contact Vic Michelin office get details and have them sent to the nearest Michelin owned store.
I have two spare wheels and tyres and tyre plug - have no intention unless extreme emergency using the goo inflation kit.

You''ll need to rotate the tyres as the front does most of the acceleration and braking ....

Other dealers in Franskston or Brighton I don't know.I'm confident with John GWS being HONEST so I will stick with some one I know.
Tempted to try Barloworld but I've had no reason to.
(Normally I do all my own servicing I have in ground hoist etc. the volt I make an exception as it need software upgrades mainly - and that is something I cannot do at home :-)

There maybe many less Holden dealers after 2017 so will have to keep that in mind...

    Hi Malcolm,

I'm not sure on the charger - clipper creek seems popular on the forum, my SPX express 50600..
When I was buying mine there wasn't much around so I imported mine ... be careful to make sure it will handle Australian 250VAC 50Hz.
My Volt didn't line the charger and every now and again it would set Engine check light.

John is very good - but is the only one at GWS (He is the foreman) allowed to work on Volt.
    No John, no service....

So far he has been very good, service advisers average.
John makes up for them and spare parts forget GWS - I get mine from Barloworld Glen Waverly - nice prompt service guys or I buy online - from overseas and use Myus.com with discovery card for extras shipping Fedex discount.

Hi Martin, given your experiences with a home charging station, what would you suggest as the product to buy today?

I'm guessing that you are living in outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and if I recall correctly you bought your Volt from GWS and you are having it serviced by them. I've just acquired a Volt and am thinking about where I should get it serviced. I have a suspicion that the servicing's of my demo Volt might have only extended to very basic things. I don't know what SW updates might have been relevant, and I don't have a record of if they were installed. GWS is where my Commodore was bought from and is serviced. Given I live in Seaford now, and there are a few Volt dealers around (Frankston, Brighton, GWS), do you recommend GWS for Volt servicing's?
