Sorry I did not see this message, I've been swamped at work. There are very few public charge stations in NYC, I think Popular Science has a free station outside their offices in Manhattan, but parking around there is a royal pain, I have never charged there because I am not sure I can leave my Volt there too long, probably more symbolic than useful. Most stations are in parking lots, but at $3/hr plus parking fees, it won't be cheap. Use plugshare.com to locate any stations, Beam and Chargepoint are starting to install around NYC, I have not checked for locations in Westchester before. Hope you have fun.

In a recent post you mentioned that you're in NYC. I'm visiting NYC with my Volt for about a week. 700 Mile one-way trip from the Detroit area where I live.

OK the Volt really isn't in NYC (other than the first night) I parked my Volt in Westchester (30 miles north of NYC) for the week that I'm here & I'm getting around by trains.

Are there public charge stations around NYC or they privately owned? Are most of them free or is there a charge?
