I'm going on my first long trip with my Volt in a few weeks and I'd like to juice up the battery using Mountain Mode before arriving at my destination and then going to all-EV mode while driving during my stay in that area. Does anyone know how many miles before arriving at my destination should I flip over to Mountain Mode so I can have about 35 miles of EV range when I arrive? From my experience, I'm gaining roughly one mile of EV range for every one mile of Mountain Mode driving. Does that jibe with what others are getting?
If you live in the Connecticut Light & Power service area, you can recharge your Volt -- and power the rest of your home -- with 100% renewable energy sources (wind and solar) for just 24 cents a day more than your regular power bill. What you do is to authorize CL&P to purchase renewable power at a small premium, either $3.50 per month for 1/2 renewable, or $7.50 per month for 100% renewable. http://ctcleanenergyoptions.com/index.htm
