So I've got another couple years out here in Japan, and figured that I'd go ahead and get my Volt sent over here to give me a huge hunk of home back in an otherwise alien land.

That being said, I'm curious: Do you all think that the OnStar capabilities will still work out here? I know that XM only works in specific locales, so I'm not expecting that out here, but OnStar should theoretically work since it uses cellular capabilities, and it carried me through all but the remotest parts of Canada on what I'm assuming were some crazy roaming charges.

I can't recall exactly which carrier out of AT&T or Verizon they used for the 2012 Volt, but theoretically, it should roll over to SoftBank or au by KDDI when she actually arrives.

Thoughts?

I've had my 2013 Volt for 2 months now and I have seen the same problem 3 or 4 times now. The volume bar will not move as I'm turning the volume dial up and down. Today it was stuck at "0" but the volume would increase and decrease as I turned the dial. It didn't matter what source I used (FM, USB, XM). The clock in the top right corner was also frozen for my entire ride.

When this problem happens, turning the center stack off and back on doesn't fix it. I have to power down the car and turn it back on before I get back the volume control graphic and the clock updates. Has anybody else had this problem?

There are various other threads discussing OBD2 and PIDs and such. The Other threads have pointed to my personal csv file for downloading but I'm not positive I've incorporated everyone's feedback/comments. So I decided it would better to make this more public so I've moved all my Volt PIDs into a shared Google docs that everyone can read/edit.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...3ZFdoTFE#gid=0

If you have used these PID and "validated" or have better calibrations for any unknown fields please update the spreadsheet linked above.

Discussion about some calibration processess and data fitting can be found in this thread

Any feedback on these? Do they make anything perceptively better? Do they screw anything up? Is it trivial for the dealer to do, or do you have to leave the Volt for a week?

2013 Volt MyLink Bluetooth and Samsung S3 and iPhone5

Do you have a 2013 Volt with the MyLink interface (not navigation)?
Do you have a Samsung S3, iPhone5?
Try this.
Pair your phone with your Volt.
Select the phone screen so you can watch the status of the phone.
You should see your phone is connected and an indication of your phone book and call list.
Now drive around while someone observes this screen.
Do you occasionally see the BT connection to your phone drop and then reconnect, usually within a few seconds?
Does the Phone book and/or Call list go away (caused by BT connection dropping and restoring quickly)?
If so, please report it here and let GM know through your service writer, Volt Advisor, or MyLink service.
Mine has been doing this with my Samsung S3 and my wife's iPhone5 since I got it last August.
It was so bad at first that it spent a lot of the time disconnected.
It has gradually gotten better with Volt software, Samsung OS and Apple iOS upgrades but it is still quite common and reproducible.
I suspect it happens when I change cell towers since it tends to happen in the same location each time.
You have to be driving around to see it.
My service writer took her iPhone 4s and tried three other new Volts on the lot and saw the same thing.
Even with that, GM seems to think I am the only one in the world with the problem and they insist on trying to "fix" my car.
They have done numerous software upgrades and replaced the radio with no luck.
Now they are calling in a field engineer to "fix" it.
It sure looks like a Mylink issue, not an issue with my car.
So, please let me know if you see the same thing.
Maybe they will actually start working on the real problem.
