I'd like to mount my Beltronics radar detector without the need for those stupid suction cups that don't work well and without the coiled power cord dangling out of the center cubby, and I've come across a solution (MAYBE), in this product:

http://store.blendmount.com/volt-c338.aspx

The BlendMount looks like it will clamp onto the rearview mirror post just fine, and the MirrorTap looks like it should be able to tap into some of the hot power accessories up in the ceiling (HomeLink or mirror).

I inspected the back end of the mirror, and unlike in my old car, there are zero exposed wires, I'm assuming the powered mirror wires are inside the post.

My question for you, friends, is has anyone done this and can save me the trouble of figuring out how? I'm reluctant to even try to pop that pod off the ceiling, as I don't want to damage it or the headliner, just to find that there's nothing convenient to tap into. I don't mind cutting wires if I *have* to, but i'd like to have a zero-cut, reversible install, if at all possible. I'm perfectly capable and equipped to splice into hot wires, I just have to find something that's accessory-hot to tap.

Thanks!

I took my 2012 Volt in to my local stereo shop to install a Valentine one Radar Detector using the Savvy (OBD2 port Device). The installer used the OBD2 port on the Passenger side and we could not get any power for the V1.

I was told on another forum that the Volt has 2 OBD2 ports one on the driver's side and one on the Passenger side. Is this true?

The purpose for the Savvy is to keep the radar Detector quiet under preset limit. I have it set to 35 MPH on my other cars . Why would the Savvy work on the Drivers side OBD2 and not the Passenger side?

Hello,

Can anyone post or point me to the wiring diagrams for the 2012 Radios, I'm specifically looking for the Bose Nav radio and a Non Bose Non Nav radio, I can provide the part numbers if needed,I was searching online and I found a service manual for the volt but the schemactics in there are vague and only show the speaker wires, it seems that it might suffice, but if somebody has them that would be great as a confirmation. I found the diagrams for the backup camera and I will be making a new thread on how to add a backup camera to the car as well.

Thanks for any help regarding this matter.

We're buying our second Volt, and want to install another 240 volt charger in our garage. We have an SPX Power Express, which is attached to one of the posts that divide the bays in our garage. It's perfect there because it's only 5" wide. In beginning to look at buying a new one, I'm seeing a lot of criticism online re the SPX, and there are cheaper models out there (Bosch, Leviton). My SPX has worked flawlessly for a year and a half, and like I said, esthetically it would seem right to have 2 identical chargers in my garage.

What's the preferred level 2 charger amongst you guys?

I like what some of the members have done to the bow-tie with various colors of Scotchlite vinyl reflective tape and then I saw jimtesla's American flag set into the bow-tie – NICE! I found what I believe is the perfect flag on ebay from seller la_gifts. It's a waving flag and the cost was only $1.79 each. This seller even modified the size to 4.5”x7” for no additional charge. This larger size will just fit into the bow-tie if you skew it slightly and being it's a waving flag it doesn't matter if it's skewed a little. The ebay listing is for a 3.5”x6” flag so if you order send a note to the seller requesting the larger size.

Hello All,
I just purchased a 2013 Chevy volt in the pacific NW. We may eventually move to Si Valley and hence that was one of the factors in deciding on the volt. Love the car, and one of the best I have ever owned. I should have done more research but just yesterday learned that only volts shipped to CA dealerships have the Low Emission Package. One of the goals in getting a volt is to get access to the HOV lanes in CA.

First question,
Do all current 2013 models have the low emission package?
If No, where would be the best place to begin to see if I can have the additional parts installed and software updtaed if needed?
Should I talk to a volt advisor or the dealership or contact GM directly. If I should talk to GM directly, does anyone have an email address I can reach out to?
If this is even possible, how much will it cost?
I heard GM does it for free for volts shipped to CA. Hope they will be willing to do the same for NW owners also. Apparently there is an added bonus of 10 yr/150K mile warranty increase also for the hybrid parts/electricals.

Any pointers will be much appreciated.
Regards.
