I saw quite a few TPW of 10/31 (like mine). Any status - I am curious to how long after 10-31 passes before I drive past my first gas station!

I am still at 3400 as of this morning. And living in mid-Florida, I have heard estimates that are into December (geez I hope not).

I checked this morning too.

I asked this in another thread, how long does it actually take to manufacture a Volt from start to finish?

#4 ·
My TPW was 10/17 and it was a week and a day before the status was updated to 3800.
I am still at 3800 today so it has been another full week and my Volt has not been shipped yet.
The hardest part is waiting.

Shipped!

According to http://www.chevrolet.com/ordertracking my Volt has shipped! I do not usually check that site as it does not break down the codes - but the connect site still says 3400.

This economy cannot stay in the doldrums much longer - and I hope it starts to uptick soon and aggresive, but that also means gas prices are going to shoot up. Not that it is not high now. I love it when the nay sayers tall me that I am not really saving on gas, because I have to pay for electricity - I go to enphase.com and show them how much free juice I am getting from solar!

Note that this is not nearly as cool when it is raining out and enphase site says I am generating 12w total!!

(soon to be) driving free!!

I was also TPW 10/31 and just got notification that I'm now at 3800 as of this morning. So I guess there is hope.

NO FAIR! :D Can you now get a Vin?

#13 ·
WOOT!!!!! It went 4B00 overnight, now the wait to ship. Need to track down the VIN next.

#16 ·
Ok, what's the next step in the maniacal stalking of my car - I send an email to my VA and ask for a railcar #, then track that using the automated service?

#17 ·
I think that is right, I notice yours is Red as well, sort of confirms the theory of color batches.

Whoo Hooo! I got a email from my dealer and a call from my Volt advisor Wendy that my baby was born, #C8909. :)
Time to update my sig. My dealer expects it to be ready to go home on 11/22.

White is last?

If it goes by color batches white must be last. I am still sitting at 3400. Funny on Monday the http://www.chevrolet.com/ordertracking site said I went from queued for production - to shipped. When I check now it is back to queued for production.

So much for TPW being on time - sucks

VA contacts you right after vehicle is completed?

#22 ·
Good question. My TPW is in 10 days, and I have yet to be contacted by a VA.

Is the double 4B00 normal? Maybe it has moved.

Your history looks exactly like mine (also red). Maybe our cars are conjoined and QI is separating them?

#28 ·
Has there always been a VA - or is this just something they do for specialty orders, like when the new Camero's came out.

Seems like as they ramp up - a VA would be very busy.

I just checked the chevroletconnects.com and got an update:
It still has the same event number: 11/03/2011 (4B00)

I'm guessing that NS = Norfolk Southern Rail. Does anyone know what some of these terms mean (pro, ship to 7M)? Thanks.

Getting closer to 10,000 - just got the great news and a VIN!!

Dealer contacted me this morning - estimated delivery is 11/18 - which is same day that SPX installs the $1000 (average) connector between the cars charger and the house 240V.

I guess one of the prices of getting such a cool car in the early days.

woo-hoo!!!!!

Just got a great call myself..... "Hey Brandon.... I've got a white diamond volt sitting here waiting for you...." Yup, thats right, my car is at the dealer this very minute. Amazing speed on this deal!!! No contact from a VA btw, so dont count on that. Im thinking that may have been something they did with the 2011s, number 7870.... come to papa!

Cassens Vehicle Tracking shows mine delivered to the railhead in Lansing Michigan now. I guess the VA should be able to get me some rail car info in a day or 2.

Edit:
Directions:
I96 TO EXIT 98A, GO RIGHT ON CANAL THEN LEFT ON DAVIS HWY AND ENTER TRUCK ENTRANCE TO RAILHEAD.

I get my car on Wednesday!

I just got a call from my dealer - my car is in, they're prepping it and I'll be able to pick it up when they're done. That could be tomorrow at the earliest, but I'm not available then, so it will have to be Wednesday.

Nice - Does not look like it had to travel too far. I am happy to see that mine has been bayed and I have a vehicle tracking number from a transport company. I have seen some horror posts where the car languished for a few weeks in QI - so getting it out the door is a milestone.

11/18 - My SPX unit scheduled to be installed, my vacation officially starts, and the dealer has mentioned that as an estimated delivery date!!

Hopefully the 10/31 TPW thread can be put to rest!!

Yeah, it's not that far from Detroit to Chicago, so I guess the truck was the easiest method.

My wife actually is talking me into trying for today for the delivery. I'm a little concerned only that the dealer may not be ready. There was a PDF of the dealer prep checklist posted to the forum a little while ago, but now I can't seem to find it. Can someone remind me where that might be, please?

I sure don't mean to upset anyone, but I went to my dealer for the first time on Saturday (11/5) and took the demo for a test drive. On Monday, I gave him a call, told him exactly what I wanted (2012 Silver, black-on-black interior, all options). He called me last night and said he found exactly what I wanted, gave me the final price ($45,269), and said it was being shipped over and would be here Wednesday evening - available for me to pickup on Thursday. Reading through this thread, it's obvious many of you ordered exactly what you wanted months ago and have been waiting ever since. I just wonder how it's possible that other places have these sitting in inventory just waiting for people to buy them.

Aside from the great anticipation, what are you getting that I'm not?
Don't hate me...

#41 · (Edited)
The cars just weren't available when we put in orders. I'm not sure what value anticipation has, other than the claim of great angst throughout the process. I would have preferred your method, quite frankly.

One thing you should make sure of prior to taking delivery is that the vehicle is still eligible for the federal tax credit - there have been scattered reports of dealers taking the credit and passing the vehicles along to unsuspecting buyers.
