Hi All.

I called the California ARB, but the person coudln't tell me when or if the Volt would be officially able to be eligible for the California rebate/ HOV lane. The Chevy dealership was even less informed.

Are all 2012 models of the Volt eligible? I presume they'd just have to meet Enhanced ATPZEV standards, but I didn't see anywhere on the 2012 car's invoice sticker (at least the one in the lot I saw) that says that.

Does anyone know who's in charge of qualifiying Volt for California?

thanks in advance,

Frank

@ftlum,

We understand that the AT-PZEV (Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle) certification is very desirable in markets for which it provides access to HOV lanes. When developing any product, there is a prioritization of features that will be developed first. In order to bring the Volt to market quickly, but with high quality, General Motors chose to focus on the federal immersions first as it applies to the vast majority of the potential customers. We are working on a version of the Volt which will meet the AT-PZEV. It is estimated to be available in the 1st quarter of the 2012 calendar year.

I heard February but that was a few months ago. This is entirely consistent with Trevor's Q1 estimate. Just keep in mind that this is an estimate. The rebate will be $1500.
