When I wake up in the morning I would like to push a button on the key fob to kick in the climate control the would get my car to the proper temperature (AC or Heat).

This way I use the electrical grid to get my car ready for the commute.

I agree:)
The remote start would allow me to warm up my car on cold winter mornings. The remote starter would help me de-ice, defrost my car when it is covered with ice and snow.

Instead of draining the batteries, I would prefer to use the grid to warm up my car.

Great idea!

I wonder if the car is allowed to be "on" when plugged in. I guess as long as it is in park, it should, then climate control could run off your home power for a few minutes, when it's doing the most work of heating up and de-icing.

Great idea Jason. The climate control inside the car could be timed to pre heat (or cool) the inside of the car for a short time before you drive it and lessen the demand on the onboard energy supply to conserve fuel. On the other hand, long term heating and cooling of the car can be wasteful if it goes on even when you won't be there to use it. But there is no foolproof way to prevent this.

Your idea is very good. Much of the US has to deal with cold weather 6 or more months out of the year. Using the house current saves the batteries for what may be needed for extended driving time due to poor weather. Ordinarily I have a 12 minute commute, but that can be as much as 45 minutes in bad weather. John M.
