Last week I put down a deposit ($1000) to hold my #8 place in line for a 2012 Volt at MSRP. I'm in Illinois, so unfortunately not in an early rollout state.

My dealer (Bill Stasek) sells lots of Corvettes. He said he can use that to his advantage in sourcing Volts from other dealers by offering to sell their Corvettes if they also send him their Volts. I didn't realize that there was so much horse trading among dealers. If he can get me a Volt, works for me though.

I'm #1 at my dealership and had to only put down $500. I actually finalized my order on Saturday but I will not get mine until around November.

It will be great to have another Volt roaming Illinois! My Volt was about 5 miles from that dealer this weekend.

There is quite a bit of horse trading done between dealers and it's a PITA. I do all the trading for our dealership, the largest volume dealership in the state. No way I would take a Corvette (low supply/low demand) for a Volt (low supply/high demand). I talked to a DC area dealer (Phase 1) today--he sold five of his 2011 Volts to other dealers for cash (all over MSRP). YMMV.

Cool! I was happy but a little jealous to see that someone at work (in Schaumburg) already owns one. I was told that the ballpark delivery date was 4 months after the order is placed.
