: 4th Quarter Rant!!!!
Brandon 07-19-2011, 01:59 AM I havnt been on the forums much lately due to the utter futility of reading about a car that I cannot even have until Oct (assuming GM is running on time). I havent even been back to my dealer due to some asinine amount of money they wanted me to put down to get on the list to be able to order mine once they started taking orders. Essentially, paying to stand in line to stand in line. Yea, dumb.
I thoroughly envy those of you on the coasts. Yes, this is just someone whining about not being able to buy what they want when they want it and basically how this is just one more reason to despise living in NE. My time table is quickly shrinking though. Its becoming increasingly more and more of a pain in the ass hauling around a family of 4 in a 2 door Infiniti G35 and the readily available SUV is starting to become more and more of a viable option.
Pep talk yall! Keep me in the game! lol (late night whine session off)
voltage692 07-19-2011, 02:10 AM Why are you waiting? There are cars on the lots at MSRP that you could have today. No need to worry about the service issue, lots have bought out of the launch markets with no issue with service.
Contact Trevor the Volt advisor on this forum.

fishhawk 07-19-2011, 08:10 AM Agreed. There are still cars out there. Sure, you might have to pay shipping, but many members have done just that from dealers like Neal Diamond, who regularly posts here. with great results. You can also go here and click on click on the “Locate a Vehicle” on the top of this web page, trying out zip codes in launch areas:
http://www.chevrolet.com
It might not be accurate, but would give you some dealers to call. When I run this for my zip code, I see 4 cars listed.
Good luck!
Edit: Forgot to say the Volt Advisor is the best way to go, since they can do the work finding vehicles in launch areas the meet your needs. I'd call them first.
Slapshot28 07-19-2011, 08:23 AM Agreed. And don't worry about service. Your local dealer will be thrilled to service your new Volt, even though you bought it elsewhere. (That's where they make their money anyway.)
muv666 07-19-2011, 09:10 AM I've been following the development of this vehicle for nearly 4 years and I'm dying to own one. My issue is that I've accumulated $3,500 in earnings from using my GM Mastercard over the years that I cannot use toard the Volt until November, according to the rep I called. Therefore, even if I can get my hands on one from Michigan (I'm in Ohio) I need to play the waiting game since the earnings make the car affordable for me. I did find a dealership here in Columbus that took my order for a $500 deposit. Hang in there!
kbavoca 07-19-2011, 09:16 AM Even if you end up waiting, it will be worth the wait! We bought our Volt, with the assist of our Volt Advisor after our original purchase from our nearby dealer "disappeared". All told, while our total wait was only 3 months, at the time, every day of the wait was very frustrating! We have now had our Volt #3850 for 4 weeks and love it! My Silverado is sitting in our garage very sad - - it has only gotten out to take garbage to the landfill and haul us and our mowers to cut my mother-in-laws lawn! But, when the first 40 to 50 miles of every trip is total electric; and, we get 40 to 45 mpg when the gas generator does kick-in, it is tough to leave the Volt in the garage! Besides it is a neat car that is fun to drive!
Jim Fallston Md. 07-19-2011, 09:24 AM There are 2 , 2011 Volts available @ Gentilini Chevrolet in Woodbine New Jersey. One is the soon to be unavailable Gray with 17" polished wheels and back up camera package. The other is red with no options. I have been told that both are available @ MSRP Now. It may be a long drive but you would have one right away. I am interested but funds are a big concern for me right now. They are also available for lease I have been told by the salesman Jeff Soduk. You could fly both ways and have it shipped if you did not want the long drive. Good Luck to you.
Slapshot28 07-19-2011, 09:50 AM One is the soon to be unavailable Gray with 17" polished wheels and back up camera package.
Gray is a superb Volt color, especially since it matches perfectly the plastic skirts along the bottom. And it's a discontinued color! Grab the beautiful Gray one now, before this rare breed before it ends up in someone else's hands.
Brandon 07-19-2011, 11:20 AM Ive been in contact with a Volt advisor, and considering the deal im looking for (considering trade-ins and such) it appears that my only course of action is waiting. Additionally, Im thoroughly infatuated with the new interior options of the 2012s. I plan on going with the white exterior with the red/black interior. The delivery option was something we spoke about and we were talking about lining something up with a MI dealer; which would have been great. However, then the subject of trade-ins came to pass and we werent sure how that would work.
voltage692 07-19-2011, 11:37 AM I had one of those 2 door Inifiniti's.
It's not wise to trade in that car. Those cars are easy to private sell and they hold their value well. Why would you give up $1000's of dollars just to save yourself an afternoon of work private selling the car? You're not going to make up the difference by a long shot with any sales tax reductions.
I just sold 2 cars privately, and in my case the total savings were easily over $10K what the low ball trade in's would have been.

ctdeng0 07-19-2011, 11:51 AM I'm on my third Volt as one was totaled. I bought one from my local dealer and two from out of town. The first was in Maryland (Criswell Chevrolet) and they gave me a price from my trade before I got there. I did not trade my car but it can be done.
Now my son is planning on getting a 2012 as he wants the keyless entry. Still determining if we will be able to get one local or have to go out of town for his.
So don't let local availablity keep you from buying the future of the automobile.
Steverino 07-19-2011, 03:03 PM OK, so this is like when my wife complains about something but just wants me to be sympathetic, because there is a solution, but she doesn't want it. :)
I second (third?) selling your current car privately. I posted my old car on Craig's list and it sold in a few days for Bluebook (much more than a trade-in).
P.S. I used Voltage692's patented engine bay wipe-down method! Clean cars sell faster.

Yes, lol, essentially thats what Im doing. Im whining because it doesnt appear that i can get the car I want until November. And, although the 2011 that was mentioned earlier does sound good, I am rather partial to the interior options of the 2012s. So, unless one of the dealers in one of the other states has a white one with the black/red leather interior with navi, then Im afraid I will have to continue to twiddle my thumbs and sigh in impatient frustration.
However, I think I may take some advice that was given on here about putting my Infiniti on Craigslist. I hadnt even considered that route.
voltage692 07-19-2011, 11:36 PM AutoTrader has work wonders for me every time. Doesn't hurt to post it in more than one place given the relatively low cost of websites like AutoTrader to the amount of money you will save selling it yourself.

I bought mine from him and drove it back to IL over a couple days. Enjoyed a day in NY with the wife too. Plugged in at a bed-n-breakfast on the way home (cord from their garage) so 1st 40 next day were "free".
