Nope, but they do look cool. I wonder if the GM Parts Guy on the forums will offer these at 23% off as well. Too bad shipping to Texas might ruin the deal.

Compare shipping to sales tax and then decide on using Alan (GM Parts guy) or not. For me, Alan was the winner.

Yup, that's what I do. I bought the floor mats from Allen, and it was a good deal because the item cost was much more than shipping. Later I ordered the cabin filter and a couple of other things, saved me dollar or two, but was also worth it because I didn't have to take time to drive to the dealer.

I also tried to see what he could do on the front fascia/air dam. The price was good, but due to something UPS calls "dimensional weight" shipping was going to be crazy.

That's why I said shipping might ruin the deal. For now, I don't need the sill plates; I spent enough on the car and accessories I have already purchased. And I decided the front fascia scraping wasn't that big of a deal.

Hi folks - We have a couple of these on order and the discount will apply to them as well. In most cases it is better to order a few items that can be packaged together to save $ on shipping. We don't have a sales tax in Oregon as stated above and that will save you some extra $ too.

Thank you,
Allen

These do look nice and I have had similar on other cars.

Question for Allen, GM Parts Man. So can you tell us something about the installation? All adhesive with some sort of 3M automotive adhesive? Prep work? Then finally how to apply (any frame of reference to use, pull part of the tape off the back then hold in place and zip off the rest? Wet it down with roller, finger pressure)?

Any info you can provide would be nice and if there was a pdf or other document to reference on the installation that would be great too.

When they come in I will scan the instructions and any extra tips my techs may have I will also include.

There's an outfit called King Penn Industries that makes custom sill plates that are laser etched and illuminated, about $200 bucks. Here's a link to their web page:

I wonder if the existing plastic door sill needs to be cut, removed, and replaced with the stainless steel one? If it is installed on top of the existing one it would be too high right?

Update: Upon close look it appears that the stainless steel sills would be attached to the metal car body, not the plastic piece I mentioned above,

Allen, will look forward to any info you may be able to find. Thanks for your help.

That would be a good price.

But their website makes it look like they only make custom sills for a few cars, not for any car.

Allan, do you have any info on the back seat - rear compartment panel that fits in between the gap in the rear seats?
Price? Colors?

I used to own a Saturn Sky and this outfit (kingpennindustries) made custom etched wind blockers and door sills for the Sky and Solstice. The total combined production for these cars was only about 10,000 units, so I believe if there is enough interest in the Volt community they would be happy to make custom door sill for the Volt. I found there products to be very innovative and of high quality.

Wow for only 10000 cars, I see them everywhere in Houston.

So I have been searching for the least expensive price for these door sill plates for the Chevy Volt. Allen's deal was great at 23% off, but for me shipping killed the deal. I found this other online store, who has the same part for roughly the same price as Allen does, but with much more affordable shipping rate. Check it out for yourself, I just ordered my set through them, can't beat it for $88 and change. Total comes out to be cheaper than Allen's price with shipping, and it's the best deal I can find so far, if anybody can beat the total price of $88, let me know. Thanks!

If you went off our web site shipping fee that figure is wrong. You would have to call for an acurate shipping qoute from me.

I just had the custom Volt Sill Plates installed by my dealer. I'm happy with them. While I was expecting four plates, there are only two: for the two front doors, not the back doors. The plates seem thin and light, which is a good thing.

Also, they installed the cabin filter, rotated my tires, and did the multi-point vehicle inspection. I pressed gently about doing software updates, since my VIN is lower than the reported cut-off at VIN #954 (http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?6671-Check-Engine-Light-On-On-Star-Diagnostics&p=61015#post61015). The dealer said that GM is not recommending any upgrades. Since my Volt seems perfect in every way, and I am reluctant to fix things that aren't broken--especially software, I let it go.

Another happy day with my Volt!
