: is there a way to turn off the radio/nav without opening the door?

Other than permanently disabling this feature, is there a button I can press or something?

To be clear, I turn the car off, the radio keeps playing, which is usually fine, but if I'm pulling in somewhere to wait for someone I may not want the radio on. (It does turn off after 5-10 minutes). If I just turn it off, the center screen stays on. I'd like it all to just turn off when I press power or something.

Opening/closing the door works, but I've also got it set to honk the horn if the key's in the car, which of course it does as soon as I close the door, so this isn't really acceptable either.

Just use the mute button on the steering wheel...If you want to stop radio/nav sounds. ON/OFF (center of Knob) also works. In config, turn off display, also...

Just guessing here as I don't have a Volt yet but just push the Vol/power button in the middle of the volume control to turn off the radio. It has a power button symbol there.

When you shut the vehicle off and turn off the radio, if you want the display off without opening the door, try the following:Hit the config button, then touch "display", then "display off". This should make the screen go blank. You will have to do this each time as this is not a permanent setting. To get the screen back on, you can restart or just touch another button like "radio band".

radio volume knob just turns off radio. config/display/display off just turns off display. so that's 4 presses to turn it all off and then I guess four more to turn it all back on. I was (am) hoping for just one, to turn everything off. Thanks!

There is no way to just turn one of them off, brian78. The power button is actually for the entire center display (Nav/Radio/Climate/Info/etc.) When you press the button you are turning the display off for all of these items. You can turn back on the display, by pressing power again or by touching NAV, Info, Config, Climate, etc. on the center stack. When the power is turned back on for any of these functions, radio volume returns. There is a solution to this issue: use the MUTE button on the steering wheel when there is a desire to turn the radio volume off (radio muted), but want to continue to view the center displays.

#7 Trevor,

Thank you. Very informative. The good old "MUTE" button, LOL. Who knew?
