: Windshield shade peeling paint

I unfolded my windshield shade to put it up today, and heard a "Velcro like" sound as it unfolded. The paint had partially peeled from the lettering to the screen! Has anyone else seen this as well? It was only mid 70s at the time, and the car wasn't terribly hot when I got in. Do I just have a bad shade?

You can see where the 'V' ghosted itself on the fold, and you can see speckles of the 'O' missing, especially along the left edge and the upper right corner. The other lettering is similarly affected. One of the big reasons I got the shade was for the Volt brand advertising power... This doesn't do it well!

That's not good. I have the same one. I know when it came it has a light and sized piece of paper right where lettering would touch as you folded it. I assumed it was to keep it from sticking until it was fully "cured" after leaving the factory.

I like it overall except it seems to bow down (sag) when it is in the window and it has only been modestly warm here in northern IL.

I'm curious if these Volt accessories are made in china? Thanks for the warning.

Overall it is quite nice and is very quick to put up and fold to put away. I generally just turn and put it in the back seat. I'll probably just leave the fold undone one fold where the lettering is. Direct sun is brutal on anything over time. Most shades simple do not have any lettering on them.
