MSRP?

I actually don't object to a reasonable mark-up on dealer spec cars (though I don't think $5K is reasonable). If the dealer's taking a risk it seems to me it isn't totally objectionable for them to take some reward.

But MSRP provides a better customer relationship in any case.

I think they'll take MSRP for the car, but I don't know for sure.

You should object. This car is being subsidized by the federal government as an incentive to purchase(BTW, I think that great). If the dealership, you and others think paying over MSRP is acceptable, which is fine, I think the rebate should be null and void. The premise of the credit is to help the consumer reach the "new technology" price of the car, not add as a buffer for additional profits. And I won't get into the bail out of GM either. Lastly, if people are willing to pay more, it actually undermines the need for the tax credit. Why have an incentive if its not needed????

Did anyone call to see what they are asking?

Also just got a call from Lone Star that they have just received a black car, black leather/dark accents, rear camera, painted wheels. No idea what they want in terms of price for it but if you are looking for a car in Houston here is another option.

Seems like it's not hard at all already to find Volts on lots looking for buyers. That was quick.

It is a safe bet that any new Volt that has been advertised for sale for more that a day or two and has not got a buyer is for sale at least $2,000 over MSRP, usualy $4,000 to $5,000. But they may take less after a few weeks of having alot of interested buyers letting them know were not interested at over MSRP and reminding them that the longer it sits on their lot, the longer it will be before they get another to sell.

I think some dealears may like to keep it around to attract more show room traffic and to try and sell the Cruze to any one who objects to the price, which they all have a lot of in stock.

I remember a recent story about a Buick dealer that kept a Grand National in his show room at a lot over MSRP, after more than 30 years it is still there.
