Picked up a Crystal Red Volt with premium interior/backup camera on Saturday. #2380!

I have been following this site for over two years. I didn't post much, but I enjoyed the discussions, and I learned a lot. I kept talking about the Volt with my wife, who eventually got tired of hearing about it.

I emailed the salesman I had purchased two Suburbans from in the past to inquire about a test drive. He said he had a demonstrator I could drive. I was out running some errands with my son-in-law, so we drove to the dealer. Along the way, I mentioned my favorite color and the options I wanted. We get to the dealer, did the test drive, and I was hooked.

He just happened to have almost the exact one I wanted on the showroom floor (except for some minor options for $150, like the cargo net, etc). I figured it was meant to be, so I bought it right away. :D

Having a blast with it. Drove 35 miles yesterday, and told my wife it cost of $1.50 in electricity, versus $7 for gas for her GMC Acadia. All she did is nodded her head.

Ironic that I had bought Suburbans in the past from this salesman, and now a Volt.:)

Looking forward to many years with this car.

That red IS a nice color. As soon as mine is built, I plan to join you in having a blast! My wife is OK with me talking about the Volt. I think she can hold out until ours is ready for pickup!

Remember if you had a good dealer experience to make a post in the Good Dealer Thread. I will be in the wonderful state of Texas on the 22nd to pick up my Volt. I have never been to Austin. My salesman emailed me some pics yesterday. I can't wait till Friday the 22nd/Earth Day to pick it up.

Congratulations!
The red is the best color option in my opinion. That is the one that we are looking at, and are planning on buying as soon as we have got enough money to do so.
Keep us updated on your first impressions of the car :)

Enjoy your new Volts guys. I too bought from a Texas Dealer......Marble Falls , back in Dec during the rollout, and I have been very happy with the car and the dealer. The shipping to South Florida was very reasonable ! You say our wife just nods her head, well my girlfriend wants my volt ! .......
( but she can't have it ! )

Thanks, Guys.

I just got the windows tinted today - as dark as legally allowed smoke-colored ceramic tint so it doesn't interfere with GPS. Looks very nice, blends well with the black top and trim.

I have the 240v Voltec charger on order from SPX. Should be here next week some time.

39.4 miles electric today, and 4.7 miles burning .1 gallon of gas. Love it!

I bought mine in Texas too. Brought it home to New Mexico.

Just got home from a little local jaunt, went 41 miles on electric and it estimated 4 miles electric left.
First time to be on track to get 45 miles AER.

Nice! I tried babying it, but that's the best I can do so far. Mainly because of the traffic lights in the Austin area are so bad. They aren't traffic control devices, they're traffic obstruction devices. There's one stretch I drive where you come to a red light, you get through that, and a couple of blocks down the road the light turns red. Or lights on an intersection with a dead-end side street that cycle even when no one is there. I guess they just want to encourage more people to drive toll roads

It's much more obvious what these lights do to your efficiency when you are trying to keep the spinning leaf ball in the middle :)

I would assume you leave it in L for in city driving then?

I have also made a few trips to the next nearest city where I end up 75 - 80 miles round trip. I go on electric and come back on extended range. I use about 1 gallon of gas for the trip. It's interesting to see how much regen adds back in during the second half of the trip.

No, I have been driving in D the whole time. I have about 4 miles of 60mph highway, 3 miles of 60mph highway with several lights, a mile or so of 30-40mph street. I didn't think L would help in this case, but I haven't tried it.

I would use L to slow down every opportunity I could. If you can see the lights changing or know when they are going to ahead of time, its a great way to save breaks and regain power. It really increases mileage in CS mode and range in CD mode. Besides that I just like the feel of the regen brakes. ;)

Ok, thanks! I'll give it a try.

Btw, today was the first time I gained range coasting. I was on a freeway when it changed to 27 miles range. Then I exited on a long ramp. By the time I got to the bottom of the ramp it went back to 28 miles range. Cool, I thought.

Drove in L all day today. Got 44.5 MPC. Impressive. Thanks MichaelH!
