Hey everybody, just got a slap in the face today.
Nissan just revealed the canadian price of the leaf, over 38ks....but you do get better cabin heating and heated seats!!!!!

Not that i care much about the Leaf but, is GM going to slap us canadians with a 10 to 20% price increase???
If they do, we'll have to find a way to buy our volts across the border like plattsburg.

little bit pead off at nissan and people should hold there purchase until nissan lowers the price or competition comes up with other choices.

Now, we'll just have to wait to see what gm will do with their canadian price.
When the dollar was at 80 cents i could understand the price increase for american cars but today the canadian dollar is at $1.04 american so if GM doesnt touch the price of the volt, who would buy a Leaf??
Starting to be a little bit worried here.... hope GM will unveil the cnd price soon, I don't deal very well with stress.

I think few will sell at that price, if only as a mater of principle. And going to the US to buy one isn't going to be very helpful, since the car most likely won't qualify for provincial rebates if bought outside the country.

There are a few reasons for a small difference in Canadian prices (diffeent corporate tax structure, labour costs, higher transport costs, etc.), but I won't buy a Volt if it costs more than 5% over the US model. My money will go to Germany, because I'll buy a VW Jetta TDI, which costs less in Canada that in the US.

With CAD on par with USD, it has to be based on VAT or some other taxation issue. Call Ottawa and see what's up. Somewhere, there is a taxation office staffed to the walls eagerly working on this.

I have a feeling Volt will be appx $46K CAD.

Well, after a little comparaison on the net from gm.com and gm.ca, most cars have a 20% higher price tag in Canada and then you have a 15% retail tax on top of that so that would put the Canadian volt at $49,200.....that pretty much takes care of the $8000 provincial incentive for electric cars.
We Canadians are really good suckers....lame.

Considering how poorly the LEAF seems to perform in cold climates, price-restricted sales is probably a good idea for Canada.

My thoughts exactly!
