Called a Volt Advisor c/o 1-877-486-5846. A very pleasant lady who tried to be helpful but did not know as much as I did.
She said that as of yesterday, GM is no longer giving out rail car numbers. Too many requests have been received and it is disrupting operations of another department. Also, GM has decided to freeze all orders in place until after the new year. Those in Area 51 will stay there. Those at the railhead, like me, may or may not move just depending on whoever the middle-man is and their holiday policies.
Since I have both a VIN number and the window sticker, she advised me to go to the dealer and complete the sale, sight unseen and get the tax credit in 2011 or wait until the car shows up sometime in January and wait to get the tax credit in 2012.....
Merry Christmas!
I hope the above is as accurate as the other information Volt Advisors have been giving....
