Stopped by Fremont Chevrolet today and look what I saw:

690

That's VIN 46 (or was it 49?) on the left and 162 on the right. Two Volts had already been picked up by customers, and a few more were expected to arrive very soon.

This dealer is still sitting at 9 orders placed into production out of 20. Mine will be #16. HUGE interest in the Volt at this location - many, many people wanting to buy. GM, please increase production plans for the 2012 model...

I picked up my Volt (VIN #42) at Concord Chevrolet on Tuesday morning. Patrick Wang, who blogs at mychevroletvolt.com, had already picked up his car there on Monday morning with the local media in attendance. Another customer also picked up their car later on Monday, I think. I managed about 42 MPG in CS mode on my way home from Concord and drove 33.5 miles today on battery with another 10 miles estimated available.

My experience with the dealer was excellent. I bought at MSRP with no hassles and no unexpected charges or sales pressure for dealer add-ons.

Let me be clear...

Fremont Chevrolet already has deposits for their entire allocation of 20 cars. Yes, they were sold at MSRP. They would like to have more - a lot more.

9 of those 20 have been placed into production (went to status 2000 and beyond) as of today. The rest (including mine) will have to wait until after the plant starts back up in January.
