Hi
I am crunching the numbers for the lease and am wondering if anyone knows how much will be charged by going over the alotted 12K miles per year? I think a avg car lease is about 15-20 cents per mile. Just wondering if anyone had heard what it is for the volt. I will definetly be going over the allowed miles!

I am in the same boat - I'll likely average 24k miles/year. I'm very interested to hear the residual/buyout figure, because if you buy the car out after the lease, it doesn't matter how many miles over you are :)

We haven't heard yet, but we should know within 48 hours as the first owner takes delivery.

So it's a given that buyouts will be available at the end of the lease? This won't be an EV1-style takeback at the end? :)

You should look into buying those miles up front then, which if like other leases will be a lot cheaper, more like $.08 a mile.

I would definetly buy the miles up front if that is an option. .08 cents per mile is doable for me. If I drive 20K a year that will only add 53 dollars a month on top of the payment. Has anyone heard yet what the options are for higher mileage drivers?

The lease terms I have indicate that the price per mile is 0.18 cents/mile (this is the US Bank lease). I am asking about pre-purchasing miles but haven't heard back yet.

If you find out anything please let me know as soon as possible. I am trying to make the numbers work to make sense for me to lease this car! I really want it but without a pre-purchase discount on the miles it wouldnt make financial sense since I drive about 20K a year. Thanks for the info! =)

Now that people are actually starting to take delivery of these volts does anyone have any info on my original question? How much are dealerships charging per mile after 12k? Also It sounds like there is an option to buy miles up to 15K a year at .05 cents per mile. Does anyone else have info about this? If there is an option to pre-purchase miles at a discounted rate I will definetly jump on that. I know I will probably be driving close to 20K and I need to find out if I will be able to afford the lease or not.
Thanks so much
