Somewhere in the forums there's a great detailed description of what each of the letters and numbers in the Volt VIN mean. I've done some searches but I can't find it. Could the author please re-post it, and maybe it can be made a sticky for future reference, and/or added to the FAQs.

Because I have the document up on my screen, I fished out my camera and pulled up some Volt pictures from the RenCen a few days ago. The Volt on display does not show the VIN well at all, but I could tell that it was a low number (like 79). But outside at a charging station there was a Volt (not with manufacturer plates on it) and the serial number on it is 113916. How the heck can that be?
