Cool. If they build the first two commercial plant at it does produce 50M gallons annually. That's enough fuel for 833,000 EREV's that average 200MPG. Realistic numbers for 2nd or 3rd generation E-Flex vehicles. It would be interesting to see a study on how much nonfood feedstock is expected to be available for this process. What are the other uses (fertilizer, etc?) for this feedstock that may suffer? Hopefully algae generated fuel and biodiesel can play a meaningful role too and the path to end our reliance of gas from foreign oil is pretty clear.

Outstanding, but at a $2.00 per gallon cost, I hope oil remains above $60/brl. Anyone know how much water this process consumes to make a gallon of ethanol? I've heard numbers like 12 gallons of water to yield 1 gallon of ethanol, but I haven't been able to verify if that is factual or myth.
