( I retract my previous comments about Chevrolet of Jersey City, they have given me a good price on the Volt, and I believe they are doing their best to get my order produced by GM and to me as soon as they can. I am not canceling my order with them.
Added 10/26/10. My previous tryrad is left below )

am so disgusted with Chevrolet of Jersey City, I am canceling my order for the Volt

I placed the order as soon as possible way back in July, I picked them because they where very close to NYC in the initial market area and easy for me to reach, was also told I would be the first at that dealership to get the Volt.

In all this time they haven't given me a firm answer on what the price will be, giving lame excuses and not returning my calls, my order has not progressed at all while others who placed there order after me and at dealers farther from NYC have seen there order progress.

I complained about the lack of progress in my order and the dealer did not seem to understand they needed to confirm the order to move it along.

Either Chevrolet of Jersey City is inept or they have been screwing me over, either way I don't won't to deal with them anymore.

I complained to Angie at GM multiple times and was told repeatedly that someone would call the dealership and me, but they never did.

I hate this ordering process, I was number 167 on the gm-volt.com want list, but that has meant nothing.
I wish I'd never returned my MINI E, BMW treated me well in that program and I barely had to deal with the dealer.
So now I'm back to square one, looking for a dealer in NJ. Wish I could just order on line and not have to speak to dealers.

Sorry about that...looks like another dealer to avoid like the plague. That is one of the few dealers in NJ I didn't call. I started more locally for me and went to Bellavia chevrolet in Rutherford. They have been nothing but helpful. I was #2 on their allocation of 8, selling at msrp. I believe there were also 2 dealers on Rt46 that were getting Volts this year (Crane and someone else). Try giving any of them a call and see if they can help.

That sucks. I know it's pretty far, but I ordered mine from Radley Chevrolet in Fredericksburg VA. They are as far outside of DC that dealers are allowed to be for the initial rollout. Being outside of a city is normally better for prices. They are selling them for MSRP and you have to sign for the price and options you want from day one. Good luck and I hope you find a better dealer.

Go to Englewood Auto Group in Englewood NJ RP. Owner is Steve DeScalzi. Excellent guy, MSRP. Thats where I am getting my Volt.

Thank you all, I've sent emails to Englewood and Bellavia, asking when I could expect to get a volt.
They are listed as selling them for MSRP and $500 over respectively.
Will let you know how things go.

I need to retract the bad things I said about Chevrolet of Jersey City, I had been dealing with them over the phone, and some times things are lost in the translation. Today I went there after visiting Englewood Auto Group.
In both cases I was left with a better understanding of how the order process works and what the dealers can and can't control in the process.
I got a firm price of $44725 that is $535 over MSRP with the options I picked and I will still be the first customer order to go in, there que is 4 for this quarter.
Englewood is only charging MSRP but their customer que is full, And dealer orders don't match what I'm looking for. I am on a waiting list there and can place an order in January if needed.
I think I need to maintain perspective, and not worry that I'm a week behind someone else, I should be getting the car I want at the price I want by the end of the year, or early January.
I will be writing about this experience in more detail on my blog in a day or two.

Hodginator: I called Jack Payne at Radley today and he said #7 is available, but he doesn't expect #1 or any of them to come in this year, so I passed. I really want one this year so I can take the tax credit this April. Are you working with someone there telling you to expect one yet this year?

I was number 5 on the list and was told it would probably be January when it arrived. I was looking forward to claiming it this year as well. They told me they could only order 2 per week, and I believe mine should go in this week. From the calls I made around the DC area, it seems we missed the first wave. Maybe you will have better luck. If not Radley Chevrolet seemed fair (JC Caputo was my POC).
