: HOW TO GET A VOLT AT MSRP IN CALIFORNIA - DOABLE THANKS TO LYLE and JOHN

Ok, as a VOLT fan for years now, I was highly agitaged when after contacting at least a dozen California dealerships was unable to order a volt for less than $5K over asking price!

Now granted, I have a 5KW solar system (so charging the Volt will cost me zero) and enough funds to pay the 'market adjustment' being demanded, but then my payback period for the vehicle gets extended by a couple of years.

Anyway, my somewhat angry email response to one of the GM-Volt mass mailings went to Lyle and he did what it took by getting John @ GM to call me back and then 'strongly encourage' one of the local dealerships to sell to me at MSRP. Within minutes, the dealership called and within hours I had my deposit to them and order in place.

"Merit: PGNK47 is your order number sir. Enjoy!"

No that's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE. Anyway, for those of you who have been frustrated by California dealer 'attempted gauging', this dealership has promised to sell anyone who comes through GM-VOLT to be able to purchase at MSRP - they currently have 5 (now 4) additional slots available for orders through their initial allocation and are very friendly folks. Please feel free to contact me directly and I'll give you their direct contact info.....mbherm@alumni.haas.org.

Now, if we can just get the CARB to classify the Volt as a ZEV, we can save another $5K off the price!!!

THANKS AGAIN LYLE and John!!! you guys rock.

Several folks have responded already and the dealership has been responsive to them.....I'd just incourage anyone who REALLY NEEDS (for tax purposes especially) to get one prior to the end of the year to make contact and hard commit with Matt as soon as possible.

THANKS again Lyle!

Ok, well checking every day.....getting really close now.....can't wait to start pushing solar at 32 cents a KWh to PG&E and then charging my Volt for 4 cents a KWh overnight. Can you say arbitrage?

I'm now at a 3000, so these guys (John and Lyle) have definitely helped to fast track - for the tax year....anyway, the local dealer who has agreed to sell at MSRP for 'anyone' would like to define that as anyone 'in California' since this was the initial intent of this post - to make sure California buyers were not being given the run-around. Sorry to put that caveot on, but there's apparently a reason for the GM launch markets and sales tax issues as well. He indicated there were 300 Volts already heading to San Francisco! Hopefully, mine will be on one of those first trucks!

The dealer I'm working with does have ONE remaining allocation for a 2010 delivery....so for those of you who pay taxes, please send me an email ASAP if you want a chance for such @ MSRP....the executive team at the company I work for in Santa Cruz have agreed to install Volt charging stations (mainly for me, but for their 'sustainability' program as well :).

My Solar bill came yesterday and it's -$101 for the year so far, so with the rate change for the Volt, there's unlikely to be any charge for the electrical portion of keeping my Volt humming.

Last call for an available MSRP Volt allocation (Californians only) - going to first to respond this time - sorry for not getting back to some of you previously, but been really bogged down at the office for the past couple of weeks, so reply anew.

mbherm@alumni.haas.org is fine....GO VOLT, GO GM, GO SOLAR
