Lest this derail into another thread about "why is my order stalled", let's keep in mind the factors:
1. What position you have at your dealer (e.g. #3)
2. How many allocations your dealer has for the Nov-Jun launch period (e.g. #3 of 10)
3. Whether your market is first wave (CA, NYC, DC, Austin?) or second wave (NY metro, MI) or beyond that (rest of country)

After that it's a matter of the monthly allocation process between the dealer and GM. Every month GM hands out the allocations they can commit to for the next month, and the dealer correlates his orders to those allocation slots.

In the past 24 hours we did see (here) someone in NJ advance from 1100 to 2000, so hang in there! I certainly was chewing my nails off until I advanced, so I understand ...

I took a test ride a couple of weeks ago in Washington D.C. As a result, I changed my order today to add the backup camera. I had thought that the car was small enough that it would not be an issue. However, during the drive, I found that the view out of the rear window is just not as good as I need to keep from running over one of the grandchildren.

I received call from Sara today. She said my build date was late Dec/ early Jan
I told her I had hoped by christmas. She couldn't promise that, since this was build date.

My code went to 3000 on 11/3/2010 also and I got an email from my Dealer on 11/08 telling me my Prodution Target Date was 12/13. I asked Sara if that meant I may get the car before the end of the year. Her answer was the after production the car would go thru an extensive QA inspection and testing and the delivery would likely be after the first of the year. My Dealer said once he has the VIN he could process the paperwork to make the sale qualify for the tax rebate in 2010.

Are you 100% positive the rebate will be there next year? Lots of people are concerned about not knowing what the tax environment next year is going to look like.

If you're in California, and don't get your Fed rebate in CY2010, you might want to defer until the CARB approves the additional $5K rebate for the 2nd generation Volt.....mine will be very close:

Which lame site are you talking about? CamaroTracking.com does a pretty good (though not perfect) job. The GM site, not so good. If your TPW is 11/29, can you say where in JJ's list you are (and out of how many an allocation)? There's at least one JJ customer on this site who's car is already built.

I was #22 at JJ before I switched to Bob Stall. I will cheerfully grant that buying from JJ sounds better than buying at BS :-)

After attending the the NJ meet-up my wife and I decided to put in a deposit for a new Volt. Yesterday I received word that my deposit was accepted and that I am No 6 at Hamilton Chevrolet in Warren, Mi. I am awaiting doing the actual order process. Hope that happens soon. Wish me luck.

I just ordered our Volt yesterday from Mike Savoy in Troy MI. I am told that they have 2 ordered ahead of mine and to expect delivery as late as May 2011. We ordered Veridian Joule, black leather with white accents, and polished wheels. I have decided to modify that order tommorrow to deleate the polished wheels.

At almost 70, I may be the oldest Volt buyer to date???

I am excited to say that I have just placed a deposit for a Volt that is slated for production on this coming Sunday or Monday Nov 28 or 29 ....a White Diamond color with Tan Leather interior and back-up camera. Seems the dealer had it ordered as a spec or showroom model, it was unspoken for, and now I am able to avoid much delay and gave it very soon. I placed the down payment only minutes ago, so I will post more about production, vin # , and estimated delivery, as I get more information over the upcoming 2 weeks ......this all happened VERY quickly !

That's great.....you too avoided a delay by shopping out of state ! I am very happy, and keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with this transaction. One thing I noticed looking at my order number on the computer, the car is getting a front license plate bracket installed, and here in Florida we don't display front plates, so I am going to try and have that deleted from production if it is not too late.
If I were leasing, I would ship the car and avoid putting the 730 miles on the lease on day one. I checked on shipping from TX to south FL and the cost from one trucking company was 695.00 , and I may find a better rate over the next couple weeks.

MichiganVolt and Scott......enjoy your drives. How cool will that be for a fun cross country drive in the new car ! It will also make for an interesting MPG comparison with all the extra CS driving.....I can't wait to see the results. If you are driving through snow, I did notice right away the car has very little clearance underneath, so let's hope if you are doing winter driving on the way home there is no fresh heavy snow.
I make a lot of drives to and from Miami with each round trip topping at 98 miles..... so it is not good for me to load up the additional miles right from the start.

Funny you should mention this. We are going to stop but I have not figured out where yet. I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself just in case it doesn't work out for some unknown reason. I am quite excited (as is my family starting to be).

I will be checking out the long distance thread as well as the charging at a hotel thread. I honestly have thought about how I will find a hotel that will let me charge or even "understand my question" when I ask as I try to make the reservation. Then there is a little paranoia setting in about someone stealing my 120v charging cable <grin>

My main vehicle is a Ford Expedition which we use for long traveling and I pull a modest camping trailer with (boys enjoy this). I used Quicken to see how much I spend on gas monthly and yearly. For the past 3 years it averages out to $3000/yr or $250/mo. So even if it cost me $50 to charge monthly I'm still "ahead". I'm buying the car with extra savings my wife and I have done for about 10 years. Didn't know when we started that extra mutual fund saving activity that it would be for a EV car ... thought it may be for a slightly earlier retirement. Hmm...saving gas, saving pollution, saving oil changes, helping an American company, helping jump start the EV revolution, ... it feels pretty good actually.

P.S. I bought my Ford Expedition in Iowa (so a 5+ hr drive over the border). Hey they had used one in the color combo I wanted. THAT was the most expensive car purchase I thought I'd ever make... but nope.

The Voltec doesn't qualify for the free program. Irvine is indeed likely to be in the free area but the only two that qualify are Coulomb and Blink. You need level 2 EVSE that is networked and monitored to the it for free, and still may have to pay for installation.
