Any Dealers out there expecting an allocation and when? (Please denote your location.)

My local dealer in Alpharetta Georgia said they expect they will get 1 or 2 but he did not indicate he knew for sure they would. He was just going on past experience with new vehicles.

Of course, they may be in the same situation, meaning it could take a while before we get them in Florida - Classic Chevrolet in Orlando do not expect to get any Volts.

I've tried to contact dealer's in NJ NYC, and Washington DC. but havent heard anything definite yet from them.
I figure if I get my name in with enough dealer's one of them should come through, but its a outdated system. I'd rather just submit my name once and buy direct from the manufacturer online.

My dealer is in Sterling Heights, MI. They will be sending an order sometime in September. Their allocation is 6 Volts. I am number 2 in their list and they expect that mine will arrive in March of 2011.
The claim is that the first 500 cars go to the government. The next batch goes to the LA area, then after that the other "early" areas.

I'm number 2 on the list at Carter of Manchester, CT...They expect 2 Volts between March-June 2011 as well as the demo vehicle...

Only one of the places I contacted is taking reservations already, and they dont have good reviews on the web, so I'm hesitant to use them.
I'd really like to get one before the end of the year to get the Government tax credit money back in the spring, rather then waiting a year.

John L Sullivan Chevrolet in the Roseville/Sacramento area of California (largest Chevy dealer in the Sacramento area) is taking reservations, but they are keeping their allocation confidential, and not advising people who sign up what their number is. They also have not disclosed whether they are selling above MSRP or not.

He said there was no point in a waiting list if his CY 2011 allocation is ONE. This did not include the required demo but the demo can't be sold. He believes the allocation will be revised after the initial production and distribution.

Quality Chevrolet, Escondido (San Diego area) expects 16. They said they can order the first 9 in the first 3 months and the next 7 the following 3 months.

$500 refundable deposit and undecided markup over msrp. They added $2000 on for the Camero as a point of reference. As of earlier today they had 7 deposits I believe.

They were willing enough to take an out of state order too.

Les Stanford Chevrolet Cadillac of Dearborn, MI, has an active waiting list, however they are unsure how many Volts they will get initially (or when).
I was told the vehicle would be sold at GM's MSRP (although that price is unknown at this time).

Of the 6-7 Austin TX dealers, only Champion Chevrolet has a waiting list. Austin is not in the initial rollout but they were petitioning to get some (he says Austin is consistently in the top 3 nationwide in Prius sales).

Boardwalk Chevrolet in Redwood City, California had five Volt orders from customers last week and expected to sell them for more than MSRP.

They told me they are also a Nissan dealership and would sell me a Leaf at MSRP.

From the customer perspective, the Nissan customer reservation approach is superior to GMs dealer allocation approach.

This is not my understanding, here is my post from around July 4th:

I was pretty upbeat to hear Austin was going to be included. Unfortunately I missed seeing any Volts on Thursday or Friday.

Today I visited all Austin Chevrolet dealerships and spoke to a sales manager or senior sales rep. Here is what they said:

Henna Chevrolet is taking names for a lottery, no charge. I put in my name as the first one on the list. He said at least MSRP, but not much over, my supplier discount won't be accepted.

Capitol Chevrolet has a list, $500 (refundable) and had six names on the list already. They thought that was about how many Volts they were going to get and were not pushing me to add my name, so I did not. They said they would be competitive in price but did not get into specifics; no supplier discount.

Champion Chevrolet also has a list, $500 and they will not cash your check until you buy, I signed up as number nine. He said they will not go over MSRP, no supplier discount.

To anyone out there who is before me on the list: the Nissan Leaf is a MUCH better car and the Volt is really WAY below what you deserve!

I'm quite sure the only Volts I'll see this year will be photos.

I doubt Missouri will get any. Except maybe on some one day GM road show.

I'm hoping to buy a "New and Improved" model about 2012. Probably the 2013 model.

Nessenger Chevy of Medford, NY (Long Island) says they're getting 10. I put down $500 and "will" be the first to get one. Their techs went through the training. I am told that in about 3 months I'll get a concrete price (they said that they're almost 100% sure that I'll get it at MSRP {and it is so stated on the invoice}), color and delivery date, which should be around November.

My local Chevy dealership wont be selling new Chevy's anymore even though they are a top rated dealership in Wisconsin. I do know they had a waiting list that started last year!

I have not checked with the Chevy dealership in the next town over. I most likely be waiting a couple of years before buying one.

Most of you know I work at Singh Chevrolet in Riverside. Our allocation is 6.... The system shows 4 for "this year" and 2 for "next year". It reads like we will actually get 4 before January 1st but I find this hard to believe based on other postings here. But, I am hopeful that this means GM will make a big push in SoCal at launch time.

FYI- we have already taken 10 orders since the announcement earlier this week.

I called the Sacramento area Chevrolet dealers at the end of June - only one John L Sullivan Chevrolet, said that they are getting an allocation at launch. Note: Populaton of greater Sacramento ~ 2.4 Million.
When I talked to the dealership today, they said they had a recent sales meeting and decided that they would not take reservations as they would not be legaly binding anyway. They will sell them on a 1st come 1st served-basis. Only a handfull of people have inquired about a list and they will try to keep those people informed.

They said that they are expecting 7-8 units at launch, with 4-5 each month thereafter - not a lot for an area of nearly 2 and a half Million people.

Thanks to folsomev for the previous post about John L Sullivan.

That's outside NYC area so you might have to wait until the second half of 2011 right? Or did they say otherwise?

I put down a deposit at Nesenger from the above post and got #5 on the list. They said their allocation is 10 Volts; 7 between 11/2010 and 2/2011, and 3 between 2/2011 and 6/2011. I assume more allocations will follow in the second half of 2011 with the rest of the NYS rollout.

I emailed every major Chevrolet dealer within a 2-3 hour drive. All said that they had already gone through the training but had no word on allocation because we're not part of the initial rollout.

One told me that they were not expecting any dealer in Missouri to be part of phase 2 either, and that they don't think they will have them until 2012.

No problem Tagamet. Will be checking Malouf in North Brunswick NJ this week, and not so sure about Lucas in Woodbridge NJ they really didn't have a clue. Not saying Lucas isnt participating except their salespeople aren't very informative, imo.

As far as the Volt list at Oasis in Old Bridge, this maybe just some salesman gamesmanship. When i called Joe i asked to be put on the list. So perhaps he was just obliging and saying i was number three ,in any event he took my name and number and im sure he'll be calling back.

They didn't return my call at Oasis, so I kept on calling others. I'm #1 on a LOT of lists, but not in any states that are actually GETTING a Volt! (lol). I AM #19 on a list at a dealership that is about 3.5 yours south of me in MD (Gaithersburg). When asked, the salesman said that their allotment was 35! I asked how in the world they ranked so high and he claims that they are #3 or 4 in the nation with Corvette sales and that they were going "big time" on the Volt. Did the paperwork and plunked down a 1K refundable down payment. It will be Spring of 2011 before mine will arrive (I'm guessing that it will be a very late Spring - like September)(G).
He said that they had marked up the Camaro back orders by 1K, but might go 2K on the Volt. Whether I can bite on 2K extra will depend on the MSRP, so I may well know whether there is a Volt in my 2011 future by Tuesday.
Be well,

I have not yet been able to determine how many cars my dealer (Les Stanford Chevrolet - Dearborn, MI) has been allocated. The salesman says that California and the East Coast will receive cars from the first production run and Michigan will not receive any until after the first of the year. I'm on a waiting list and they don't plan to do actual orders until the November timeframe.

Anyone know if this is true?

I confirmed this morning that Austin ordering for the Volt has not been opened up yet. The only places I have been able to verify orders are being taken are California, Michigan and Washington DC area. It does not appear the additional markets announced on 7/2/2010 have been opened for orders yet and they have no idea when they will be.

DeNooyer Chevrolet in west Michigan (Kalamazoo). A salesperson at the dealership told me they have two (2) Volts scheduled to arrive in 2010, the showroom Volt and one (1) for sale. They've accepted six (6) $500. deposits towards future deliveries but do not know when they'll arrive. They had no information about the Volt's gas tank size or CSM MPGs other than it can travel a combined 350 miles.

The salesperson said they have no plans to "markup" the price above the $41K MSRP. This is apparently a long standing tradition for this veteran GM dealership whenever new products are introduced.

I asked about the new Cruze and was told they're expected to arrive by late September. Looks like the MSRP of one Volt would equal the MSRPs of two Chevy Cruzes.

I posted this in an article a couple days ago on the main page, but figured it was besort suited for the forum.

There's an allocation slot from the NYC area being auctioned off on Ebay. It seemed like a lot of slots have filled up, so this may be a good opportunity for someone still looking for a Volt.

Looks like this dealer plans to sell at MSRP.

The auction pops right up if you search on Ebay for "2011 Chevy Volt". It's been on there for a while now, though, so I suspect the auction ends in the next couple days.

Hope someone can take advantage!

Ouch! I bet they're pretty unhappy about that (not to mention YOU). Location/market?

So did the GM allocations just now get firmed up? Maybe now the detailed pricing info is out (e.g. residual values for leases) so that we can start doing our number crunching in earnest.

Yes, I am at 3000 and so are a few others here.

1100 = Preliminary Order (Order passed GM edit tables but dealer has not received allocation to place order)
2000 = Accepted By GM (Dealer used allocation to place order into production)
2500 = Preferenced (Order pulled to the production system)
3000 = Accepted By Production Control (Order input into the production system)

I just called all three Chevy dealers in El Paso, Texas this afternoon (10/16/10) and NONE of them knew anything about allocations and none were taking orders. All three were on a list I obtained from this website and dated 7/27/10. So, don't expect that just because a dealer is on that list that it will be taking orders. Apparently, there is a lot of confusion with dealers about this car. They don't seem to be excited about it like their customers.

I just called all three Chevy dealers in El Paso, Texas this afternoon (10/16/10) and NONE of them knew anything...

I ended up talking to four dealers in the San Diego (not Texas). Three of them had allocations and were taking orders (or at least placing you on an ordered waiting list). The fourth one had no clue, and no excuses, but was *more* than happy to tell you "we'll let you know when we know something."

They were the closest and easiest to get to dealer, but if I'd waited for them to get back to me, I'd have never been able to place an order...
