CODA: ASSEMBLED IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA WITH AMERICAN & CHINESE PARTS!

CODA another American built option in the electric vehicle race. The race is on and may the American public be the true winners in the electric vehicle winners circle.

CODA an American jobs car with great potential. I am pulling for those American unemployed workers in Ohio, who may soon get their CODA battery plant, and those 1,000's of former UAW auto workers in California. With an American battery over 50-70% and all the CODA major key components will be made in the USA!

CODA website info:

The CODA sedan is a global car, in every sense of the word. 30-40% of the vehicles' components are manufactured by tier-one American suppliers including UQM Technologies (motor), Delphi (DC to DC converter), BorgWarner (transaxle), Nexteer Automotive and more. Building our own manufacturing facility from the ground-up would cost hundreds of millions of dollars and take years, so we leased an existing manufacturing facility in where we are able to oversee quality control and safety. Following the process in China, we ship a rolling chassis to the U.S. where we install key electric power-train components such as the battery system into the chassis and complete vehicle assembly. This allows us to directly control installation of the vehicles' most critical components.

As to the battery quality it is made as a joint venture by China's largest battery manufacturer Lishen! Lishen is China's leading producer of rechargeable lithium-ion cells and currently supplies cells to Motorola, Samsung, Apple and many other electronics manufacturers.

'QUESTION?" How many of VOLT'S parts are made in China or Mexico? We know they assemble & design in Michigan, but where are the VOLT parts built?"

I believe a lot of the parts will be made from American parts makers like Delphi, but a lot (most?) are made in Korea, I would guess a few things are made in Japan and China too.

I hope you are wrong and the parts are made in the USA. The VOLT may be a lower American part number than the CODA, just assembled here from foreign parts with a few American parts. However, considering a lot of the parts are like the Internationally marketed Cruze it would not surprise me that 70% or more are foreign parts.

A question then arises, which was made a big quality issue/selling feature on CODA's website, CODA only uses first-line American & International parts suppliers and not just the lowest bidder. You pay more for the best & highest quality parts manufacturers.

Parts are the key!

My late uncle designed parts for Chrysler, and learned the hard way that American companies don't want to lose the repair business. They look to make the profit on the back-end and to give their network of dealers highly profitable repair business after the 3-yr/36,000-mile warranty ends.

Every part is designed to last to a certain mileage!

The Japanese suspension parts are flat out made to last years longer and in many cases over 100,000-miles longer.

My uncle was fired for making a Chrysler suspension part last 50,000-miles. The Japanese company culture suppliers over spec, and many, many more, Korean & Chinese give you the bare minimum.

The Japanese parts manufacturers were famous for over-designing parts to last 400,000 miles or 20+years. Other countries have never reached that level of putting ones, "Honor and reputation on the line for their master craftsmanship!"

Toyota asked its Prius parts suppliers, two years in a row for huge price concessions. Some changes were naturally made, and in the long run the customer will suffer the loss.

When the sticker hits the window we will know the truth, unless someone can hammer an answer prior to the dealer lot.

I am giving CODA one foot up on the VOLT, until proven otherwise, since they were the first to tell the American buyer what they are supplying.

Coda's chassis complete with interior and battery packs are made in China, then shipped to the US.

Exactly what is the US content in Coda then? Very little.
