It sounds more like a case of making sure it is the right car for people. The last thing they want is people who have not done research buying a car, then yelling in the media that it runs out of juice before they get to work.
People around this forum are well aware of the range limits I am sure, but there are people out there that still need warnings on coffee cups that coffee is 'hot' or that knives are sharp;)
