How about a Miser mode that will turn off "extranious" things? I'm not sure exactly what "extranious" things it would turn off but one I was thinking about as I drove home today were the speakers.

Most cars come with 8 or more. When I'm commuting to/from work I listen to talk radio for the news, weather and traffic (like most people I suspect). I don't need surround sound for this - mono is fine. So how about killing power to the other speakers (not just turning them down/off). I'm sure someone with a voltmeter will tell me how little electricity this would save :) but even if I gets me 1 extra mile a day ....

Fortunately, during AER the cars will be a lot quiter than a comparable ICE vehicle and to here the radio similarly the volume can be a lot lower. I think any difference from turning off some speakers but keeping a similar decibel level will be more appropriately measured in feet rather than miles.
