VW / Sanyo to partner on Li Ion development:

They say it was driven by Nissan and NEC partnering to do the same thing. Sometimes I wonder the wisdom of "combining efforts" between two large corporations. I suspect new entrants like A123 and Tesla Motors are going to more likely succeed by partnering with larger customers / suppliers, than the partnership between a large supplier and a large customer.
