As I've long stated - I expect this to be one of the two eventual configurations to emerge in several years (not decades):

- Rapid Recharge Battery (or Capacitor) Electric Vehicle - RRBEV
- Plug-In Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle - PFCEV

Since it is designed to be used infrequently, the fuel cell better be cheap for a PFCEV. Also, even if they are produced in a few years, widespread use will take much longer due to the lack of hydrogen fueling stations.

If long / short haul trucking industry adopted hydrogen ICE's / fuel cells, then the infrastructure could build out sufficiently in a very short time. Vision Industries offers short haul fuel cell trucks, so long haul trucks can't be far behind.
