I didn't even know this thing existed. I knew Volvo was working on their all electric car, but this thing almost sounds pretty neat. It's got a diesel engine, has a 12 kWh EnerDel Li Ion battery that supposedly gives it 31 AER miles, although the testers extrapolated from the juice they used in 3 laps it would get more like 18 miles.
The main difference from the Volt is that it's battery is heavier and smaller, and the engine drives the wheels directly when the battery is dead.

Basically it's not as good as the Volt in any way (I would imagine costs more too) except it would probably have better mpg in charge depleted mode since it's diesel.
