Hello all. Yet another entustic person about the E-REV´s.

Opel ampera is the european versin of GM´s volt (GM=Opel). coming with, as i understand, with the same engine and batteries. HOWEVER... GM or OPEL i have some few conserns:

How big amount of electricity will the A/C and heater suck from the batteries, and affect the 60 km range in 1 charge? I live in a very very cold country (Finland), and i´m afraid that electricity and these cold conditions does´t goes that well hand in hand!?

If GM need a test mule for nordic weather conditions i would be more than happy to apply :-)

When my conserns are said, i will give the biggest compliments to GM. This is the first step to a new generation of cars! I hope these cars will be in a reachable price range, atleast what conserns common sence. However i´m personally fully aware of that we have to start somewhere.... and whether we want it or not, invironmental awareness, economical benefits..... summa sumarum i think that prices vs gas savings will equalize each other.
Neither should we not forget that this is STLL business!

If anyone has any anwers or suggestions to my questions, i would be happy for some feedback...... However NO comments on my mispellings and lack of grammar use ;-)

Thanks

Hi DFKI,

I same the same questions as yours, but living in Belgium I may say that our winters are less harsch than yours. But the climate here is not really good.
I asked to my Opel dealer and he said that I had to wait two years (well that was last year) to get some precise answers.

So the first one who gets some precise info on our common concerns, contact the other one, OK ?

How much accessory usage cuts into the 40 mile (60 km) range is unknown at this time. They have told us that use of the heater, AC and stereo, headlights, etc. will cut into range. How much is unknown to anyone at this point and is exactly the sort of things they will be testing right now with the Integration Vehicles they are building as we type.

As to cold weather, they have been testing the performance of the Cruze bodied mules all winter long in Michigan, and it goes well below 0 degrees F there at times. They say that the battery pack and drive are working well in this environment. So, so far so good.

We are all awaiting answers to your questions. Welcome to the forum and welcome to the wait.:)
