Scheduled to go on sale in June of next year.

"EnerDel has signed an agreement to supply lithium-ion batteries to electric carmaker Fisker Automotive.

Contingent on reliability and performance testing, the batteries will be used to power the carmaker’s planned Karma model, a four-door luxury vehicle with a price tag of $88,000. The battery-operated car gets roughly 100 miles per gallon and will be equipped with an internal combustion gas engine to charge the batteries for trips longer than 50 miles.

Under the terms of the deal, EnerDel could supply up to 15,000 batter packs annually.

The Karma should reach dealer showrooms in June 2010 in the United States and will also be available in Europe. "

Why is it that they never tell you how much the batteries cost? The only car vendors that have ever quoted the cost of their batteries are Toyota ($2300 for 1.6KWH), GM ($6000 for 16KWH) and Tesla ($25,000 for 53KWH). All of these have real products either here or close.

Until they provide some numbers, it's just vaporware.

As I just posted in another thread, Th!nk just got approval to sell the Th!nk City all over Europe.

GM has been careful to keep it vague, but LG has admitted the cost of the Volts 16kw pack (8kw effective) is $8,000

I really would prefer to lease the battery with these early generations of lithium powered EV

They are still considering leasing the batteries. I'm sure you could lease the entire vehicle if you so chose for 3 years or whatever and then you could upgrade to the 2nd gen which would be coming up soon after your lease expired.

Is that the pack full of cells, ready to install in a Volt or the cells they supply to fill the pack?
