To date, they've taken 530 orders for the sedan ...

It's amazing how even Tesla is surprised by the demand for EVs. I'm really hoping GM opens up reservations for the Volt soon so that we can see GM's shocked faces when people beat their door down to get on the waiting list. I would imagine that they will as soon as their financial viability dust settles.

"Tesla reports that it has delivered about 320 Roadsters as of this week."

They are making them a lot faster, just a few weeks ago that number was at 250.

Here is the best pic of the Model S that I've seen - it looks very good from this angle:

An e-mail from Elon stated that at the two week mark reservations for the Model S were up to 720. It's been a week or two since I got that e-mail and they've held a couple other public events since then, which I'm sure brought in a few more sales. On April 29th they're having their big New York City Event and I'm sure that will get some more sales as well.

Here's a story about a "real world" Tesla owner. This quote says a lot: "The (220-mile) range lets you do anything you want to do. It doesn't cross your mind that you're driving an electric car."

It won't allow you to evacuate FL in the event of a hurricane.

Yes, the Peninsula Factor, I'd clumsily overlooked that. However, "that's what insurance is for" :)

Looks like we are watching the start of a new Apple. These cars are just so slick and advanced it's the same feeling I had when I saw the iPhone for the first time. Did this thing come from outer space?!

And my Ford F350 Powerstroke diesel pickup has a 600-mile range. When you need range without delay or hassle, there is no substitute. That is why an EREV makes more sense to me than a pure EV - at least until we have 600-mile range and less than 10-minute charge-ups.

That's not to say that, if a Tesla was parked in my driveway, I wouldn't drive it. ;)

I don't really see all 18+ million people in Florida being able to clear out in 10 or 12 hours of warning time they get anyway. You'd be lucky if one million got out. 220 miles should still get you to a safe area and then you wouldn't have to deal with the gas spikes/rationing as all of the refineries are closed down for the next 2-3 weeks.

I suppose if you were stuck in an evacuation traffic jam in an EV, at least you wouldn't be wasting fuel and polluting the environment like the ICE cars would. Of course, you'd better turn your lights and AC off, or you'd just be eating your battery.

A $120,000 will let you do a lot of things you want to do too.

Yeah, the wealth aspect of Tesla ownership is not lost on me, I'll just have to wait for trickle down :) More power to the rich guys leading the "charge" :p
