I was reading a little more speculation on the Fiat / Chrysler partnership, when I noticed the 3rd paragraph on the second page of this link:

The U.S. automaker (Chrysler) has said it was looking to sell the tooling to make the PT Cruiser after the model is phased out this summer.
This is what VW did with the tooling for the Beetle, and it was built for years in Mexico, after VW discontinued it.

Same difference - there will be endless copies of the Cruiser in China, as there are endless copies of the VW Beetle in Mexico. Moreover, China will now have a baseline American car design from which to develop new products, giving the buyer a head start in developing products for the American market.

Yep.. especially if the rope is old and decayed to the point that when you pull on it, it breaks..

A capitalist wouldn't sell a defective rope - it's bad for business. Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged demonstrates how capitalists simply get out of the rope business altogether, once they realize it's potential threat to themselves and others.

The Chinese are very smart in that they saw how the west defeated the Soviet Union with economics and now they are going to use those same economics to defeat us. They have undercut our job market so much that manufactures won't build factories here anymore. Most can only afford to buy products made in China because of it, and all the money we spend on Chinese merchandise gets pulled out of our economy and goes to them. Every time we chose to buy something made in China because it is $.50 cheaper than something made somewhere else is another dollar that is taken from our children`s future. Governments can`t make policy against buying Chinese but we as consumers can make the choice to try and put our money were it will do the most good for our economy. When ever it is possible I buy Local even if it costs more. Because the hidden costs of buying only the cheapest things gets more and more apparent with how well the economy is doing right now. Invest in our future, Buy Local!
Okay I`ll get off the soapbox! LOL:)
