View Full Version : Chrysler 200C A 40 mile eREV drivin98 01-11-2009, 02:08 PM Surprise! (http://www.autobloggreen.com/2009/01/11/detroit-2009-chrysler-pulls-a-200c-ev-surprise-new-phev-concep/) Chrysler has it's own 40 mile eREV. Jason M. Hendler 01-11-2009, 02:11 PM It appears that the industry is coalescing around the 40 mile EV range figure, as it does eliminate gasoline usage for most days for a typical driver. FrayAdjacent 01-11-2009, 02:35 PM Now, they should work with GM to use a common battery platform. That would help reduce GM's cost, and end up reducing the cost of the pack which would then be passed on to consumers. Commonality and interchangeability would be a good thing this early on in the game, and with the economy the way it is. DaV8or 01-11-2009, 02:40 PM I don't plan on ever seeing this car on the road. I think Chrysler is finished, just the way Cerbirus had always planned it. Only they were hoping to make a profit of the sale. It's sad that Chrysler can't get it together and this design shows that. They have abandoned the striking 300C design that took the world by storm altogether and replaced it with copies of other people's uninspired design. Lexus in front and BMW in back. Generic mid-2000s luxury sedan. Ho-Hum. Coming to an auction block near you. Texas 01-11-2009, 05:50 PM The more the better. Even if this model never makes it to the showroom (if Chrysler even has a showroom in a few years) hopefully the ENVI technology can be used. It just makes me all warm inside to know that there are talented engineers with good funding working hard on electrification technology. Good luck guys (and gals)! From their FAQ page: "Are these Hybrids or Plug-in Hybrids? No. These are electric-drive vehicles. The difference between a hybrid and our All-electric Vehicles and Range-extended Electric Vehicles is that our vehicles do not rely on gasoline to drive the wheels; they use an electric motor. Our All-electric Vehicles run on pure electricity, and our Range-extended Electric Vehicles use an electric-drive system powered by pure electricity for the first 40-miles and then rely on electricity that is produced by an integrated internal combustion engine and generator. What is ENVI? ENVI is a cross-functional Chrysler team dedicated to making Chrysler the leader in producing and selling electric-drive vehicles. We are developing a generation of even more environmentally responsible Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles. Is Chrysler counting on federal loans in order to fund the continued development of these EV and ReEV vehicles? The loan support allows us to continue to make these multi-billion dollar investments, to drive ENVI, to drive our hybrid strategy and to continue to make progress across the fleet on fuel economy with the introduction of advanced technology vehicles. The support will dramatically accelerate the development of the technology and bring more of these types of vehicle to market. The federal direct loan program will provide much needed access to low cost capital at a critical time for the domestic auto industry. Technology development, plant retooling and purchase of key advanced technology components are imperative for maintaining a strong U.S. manufacturing base." https://www.chryslerllc.com/en/innovation/envi/faqs/ | |
