The hits just keep on coming. So much for Chavez caring about the world's poor - guess his charity suffers as his personal wealth does.

Probably just as well. They need to switch to electric. Heating oil is ridiculously expensive. It's a bitter pill, but subsidizing petroleum is sending the wrong message (I know, I know, I'm heartless). It's called tough love. In time, they'll be glad when they're not oil dependent.

I'm sure that the survivors will be very happy that they moved away from oil heat! ;)

Well if we keep on burning fossil fuels there will be no need to pay for heating. How's that for some positive spin? :D

I guess Citgo didn't make enough money when oil was $140 a barrel.

Are you referring to global warming or just the fact that oil will get so scarce for developed countries that we'll be locked in some kind of Mad Max scenario fighting for oil and eventually we'll all kill each other?

It's the same for everyone. He does have a crappy unstable country to try to rule over too and those oil revenues are important. I wonder what the Mayor of London and that council guy from New York have to say for themselves though.

I actually decided to hold onto my oil furnace for another year when the price of oil collapsed. At the current price of about $2ish a gallon the only thing more cost efficient is a good and expensive heat pump. Unless you're going to include a wood or coal furnace; which are extremely impractical if you live in town.
