Finally some good news for a change. Is it possible to be able to buy a plug-in hybrid before the end of 2009? That's what they are claiming.

If this car is successful I can see the next model as being much more affordable and able to compete against the Volt. Much like the business model of Tesla.

The Big 3 better watch out. Fisker and Tesla are the new kids on the block. They have the new technology and none of the old baggage. If the Big 3 don't come up with a similar model the new kids are going to eat their lunch. GM has the Volt but what about the other two? What if the Volt program gets delayed due to bankruptcy activities? That would be a shame. Still, Now that Tesla has shown it's ability to produce a very technologically advanced vehicle and with such good design and quality you can almost see the writing on the wall.

Question: Will the big three with their electric and hybrid models be able to compete against new and nimble EV and hybrid manufactures that are backed by experienced manufacturing? It's kind of like how the chip industry went fabless.

These times are very interesting. I hope GM takes their restructuring very seriously. It's time to clean house.

Valmet is only one of Porsche's plants. As far as I recall, they only manufactured Boxsters there, but I'm not sure if they actually started also building Caymans there as well. I AM pretty sure they DO NOT build 997s (911s) there.

I can't recall if my Boxster was built there or not. ;)
