US has a $14 trillion dollar economy, and put together a $700 billion dollar stimulus package - 5%

China only has a $3.5 trillion dollar economoy, and they put together a $586 billion dollar package - 16.75%

Let's just all print hundreds of billions of dollars whenever we need money.

Uh, we are. China however has 2 trillion in the bank. Kind of sad how China is in a much better financial situation that we are. How did we allow ourselves to get into such debt? We'll just grow out of it? Nice dream. Now it's our nightmare.

We got into this mess by growing Social Security and Medicare / Medicaid benefits / liabilities through "cost of living" and other exponential factors, until they now make up > 1/2 of federal expenditures, forcing the government to borrow money to maintain other, more necessary programs.
