: Question on the $7,500 tax credit.

In Oregon, when you have a substancial tax credit like $6,000 for a 2KW solar electric system, they only allow you to claim up to $1,500 per year for 4 years.

I think that makes total sense since my tax liability due to income and college tuition is less than a grand. In June 2010, I will graduate and hopefully get a high paying job and then a Volt. But even then, if the job is only 6 months (assuming I get the job right away) my tax liability still will not be $7,500.

Does anyone know if this tax credit can be passed on to the 2011 taxes if my liability is not that high OR a refund (which I doubt) on a tax credit?

I'm not expecting anything I will hold anyone to, but I cannot find anything about the language used in the bill that was passed to help me figure this out.

I posted the same question more or less about 2 weeks ago. It seems the consensus is that it is a 1 time tax credit to be used only for the tax year of purchase and only up to your total tax liability.

Also, there is at least one dude on this forum who will have an aneurysm if you say you think you should have a rebate for the difference.

FYI.

Well that sucks!

But thanks for the info.

Maybe there should be a "government coupon" for the Plug in hybrid of your choice like there is with the digital conversion box fo TV.

That would be better for those who actually are looking to get the car but don't make $50K+ taxable income. Plus it would be an instant savings.
