He made a 3D solar cell that apparently accepts a wider range of the light spectrum. I can't wait to find out details. More at:

There are better 3D solar that are nano based and much better than the one shown in the article.

For example, Solyndra's (stealth mode solar company) cylindrical tube cells would efficiently trap more lights than the rectangular 3D structure illustrated by the boy.

Previous scientists of Solyndra have used the honey comb 3D structure to catch more sunlight, and the honeycomb structure is very strong at the same time and are easier to grow on nanoscale manufacturing.

But I need to see the boy's paper for myself to judge if there's any merit at all or what is really new in his idea of 3D solar cell.

But I truly applaud him that at his age, he is beginning to understand and tackle mankind's problems. I hope him all success.
