That would be the gear shifter...

Gear shift is correct, from what I have heard and read on the internet.

It "docks" into the center stack in park and pulls outwards into gear. Kind of a cool design. It's very innovative for sure.

I'd go for a smaller shifter (since there's no real transmission) and opt for more storage cubby space. Need places for bits and pieces like cell phones, etc. Can't have too much storage.

Yeah it's the shifter alright. It is unique, but kind of silly. This is an electric car. Why in the world do they need a really big mechanical lever to change from forward, neutral and reverse?? It's a waste of space and money.

My thoughts exactly DaV8or.... No tranny, no shifter needed IMHO.... at least not that HUGE!!!!

My Camry has a big compartment right there that I use for all kinds of stuff. It also has an extra 12v inside and the Aux jack for my MP3 player.... HEY!!!!..... where did they hide the 12v plugs anyway???

I kinda like it, it seems like it will give it that.... hmm... how do i describe it...

Almost like you are in the cockpit of a rocket or spaceship and you engage the trusters(shifter pulled back i presume? or forward?) and you launch.

Ahh.... one can dream right?
