: New Owner, no data on MyVolt.com, unsatisfactory response from OnStar

I've only had my Volt 2 days but since there was absolutely no data at all showing up on MyVolt.com other than the charge status, total miles, and tire pressures, I thought I would call them to ask when I might expect to start seeing charging event history, and information on the mileage an efficiency screen (which are all -- right now).

After twice being sent to people to help me with the iPhone app (is anyone hearing me?), I finally got to someone who sounded like they are tired of hearing people complain about the glitch caused by the battery enhancement since they kept saying that would be corrected in August (is that new info?). When I finally made it clear I wasn't talking about that glitch since I've only had my Volt for a couple of days, they said the reason I wasn't seeing any data was due to a "maintenance issue" that would be resolved in August (sounds like they were back to talking about the glitch again).

Oh well, that website looks like it would be cool, but they don't seem to want me to use it.

I'm crossing my fingers that it really just takes a few days or a week for data to start showing up there.

For all its faults, the Nissan Carwings website was showing me trip logs, etc. within 6 hours of signing up.

I have not been impressed with their support or the MyVolt.com website overall.

You will get a lot better and more accurate information from voltstats.net.

If the API OnStar uses for their mobile apps included the kWh drawn per charge info, Mike at voltstats would include that and I would never have to go to MyVolt.com again.

Do you remember how long it took for that charge info to start showing up? I've charged my Volt several times the last few days and there is no data there at all.

It's been a long time but I don't remember waiting at all. Have you tried pressing the Blue button and asking OnStar for directions just to make sure you're signed up?

Website integration is not OnStar's strong suit. It was only recently that the site started showing Efficiency, etc. stats. Overall I find the OnStar reps friendly and personable, but the OnStar websites are the weak link in my experience.

Yes, I have. I've had directions downloaded several times. I can check the battery charge, remote start, etc. Just no data other than battery, total miles, and tire pressures show up on the web site.

Oh I dunno, I kinda like the fact that in the 4 month or so since March 12,2012 I have only used 3 1/2 gallons of gas and have driven nearly 5,000 miles!

http://twitter.com/AmazingChevVolt/status/218480871139840005/photo/1/large

I kinda like the fact that in the last 4 months or so that I have saved over $845.00 on Gas NOT spent!

I really kinda love running in Sport Mode and "L" and drag racing at city stop lights- Blasting away from the competition at least for the first city block!

I kinda like the thrill, No LOVE THE THRILL, of barreling down the interstate outracing a Lexus, BMW, Mustang GT and yes almost a $60,000 Cadillac CTS V8 until he opened it up- lol

What? The Volt will only do 101 MPH all electric? What?

I kinda enjoy greatly the nearly silent ride, the push back in your seat acceleration, the massive deceleration battery regeneration while driving in "L" plus Sport Mode- Adding at times 5 to 9 miles of additional range per charge!

I flat out get giddy plugging in on the outside 110V sockets at Finleys, Days Inn,the local City Market outdoor plug, the 4 FREE L2 Chargers behind Spartan Stadium, the FREE L2 at the local Impressions 5 Museum and I can go on and on...

I think that I am making my point here- If not I will go on for 3 more pages. I play a minor tech support role here at the Dealership and to my extended family and many friends now and over the last 12 years and while I can understand the anguish and frustration that users of computers, smart phones and other interactive intense devices experience I do not expect absolute perfection at once from our tech based toys, devices or other gear that we use daily. ... and I won't even mention user error... I will leave that for the tech's over at ComputerWorld.com with their hilarious "Shark Tank" - End User Tech Support Blog.

Sorry you got me gong Cheezmo, but this Amazing Chevy Volt EREV IS the most Amazing Massed Produced Vehicle on the face of the earth. Enjoy it and you will find peace in your life!

This may explain what they were trying to say: http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?14896-Explained-by-OnStar-kWh-data-spike-when-battery-enhancement-is-done

I'm not getting lifetime kWh/100 miles or MPGe figures. I am getting last this information for the last 30 days but the battery fix was 30+ days ago. Not a big issue for me personally, I usually look at voltstats.

you can see from this post they are working on the site reporting:

http://gm-volt.com/forum/showthread.php?14896

I had to wait about a week to see data last year and that we BEFORE they restore the mileage and power.

The monthly reports did start 30+ days later.

Us original 2011 buyers waited over a year for this functionality, I wouldn't worry about two days ;-)

Seriously though, sometimes it takes a month while they start tabulating data, before displaying it instantly. Google does this for some of their metrics too, so it's not atypical.

In the meantime, you might consider signing up for the free third party VoltStats.net website. It's a lot of fun to be on there and see how you're measuring up to others.

I've been through all the thrill of having an electric with the Leaf for 3 months, but you got me, I appreciate the point. I'm a computer geek, so I expect that stuff to work too. It is part of the whole experience. It really bugs me when technology is presented as part of the experience, doesn't seem to be working, and no one can even say if that is normal or not because they have no idea what it is.

Whatever, you are right, I'll just go drive the car now.

I've actually forgotten about the web part. I get enough stats from the car itself.

But also like you it took some work to get things working with Onstar when I got the car.

Now that I just finished a 1300 mile trip mostly on gas and my lifetime average is down to 79MPG (can I really be depressed about "only" 79MPG?) I don't think I will be checking it much LOL.
